Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
Feel the sting of... THE GREEN HORNET (New Trailer!)
The Green Hornet is a masked crimefighter first featured on American radio in the 1930s. By day he is mild-mannered newspaper publisher BRITT REID, but at night he and his assistant KATO don masks and take to the streets in their super badass car, the BLACK BEAUTY, to take on crime in all its forms. Their trick is that even though they're heroes, they still have such a bad reputation with law enforcement that they're able to get closer to the criminal syndicates than they normally could, though you'd think they'd catch on after a while. I have some tapes of the old radio shows, which were pretty rad, along with a bunch of Shadow radio stories but that's neither here nor there.
(There was also a nifty little fact that Britt Reid is the Lone Ranger's great-nephew.)
After he got big on the radio, some comics came along:
There was also a TV series for a while in the 60s, which I really enjoyed re-runs of (and which had Bruce mo'fuckin' Lee as Kato):
And now there's a feature film starring Seth Rogen, Jay Chou, Christoph Waltz and Cameron Diaz, and directed by Michel Gondry!
Actually, let me rephrase that. Cage was going to play the long-time villain Mr. X, but when he dropped out they created the new character for Waltz to play. So, not the same role per se.
Talking about the Shadow, the old classic radio show is still pretty dang good. Obviously dated in many ways, but of the few I've listened to several have managed to be genuinely a shade creepy.
They're always campy in an awesome way by the end of the story, but the vocal atmosphere produced is really good. Kinda wish we still had radio dramas. A well done one is an excellent experience that just isn't entirely replaced by even an equally well done TV show.
I'll admit though that seeing Cage acting a villain might have been hilarious enough by itself to warrant seeing the movie. Has he ever done it before?

Well he played both the hero and the villain of Face/Off, as did John Travolta. And then there was:
I dig the Phantom and I think Billy Zane was actually pretty good in the role, but it's too bad that basically every other aspect of that movie sucked.
And now there's that Sci-Fi miniseries but I think the less said about that the better.
Man Seth Rogan, it's like he got his head CGI'd on someone else. I knew he was getting in shape but damn he did a fine job of it.
dude isn't really that fat, he puts on weight for movies. he explains it that people find fat people funnier for most forms of comedy.
plus he probably gets to eat like shit
Not going to watch the trailer. Might actually stop watching trailers entirely. They're almost always poor indicators of the actual movie, especially if not being made by the same people who worked on the film itself.

Nicolas Cage had the role originally but had to drop out. I'm really glad Waltz has it now.

Oh man really?

Yeah, he announced back in 2006 that he officially has nothing to do with this project.

Not to mention the difference in me wanting to watch it.
I knew about this whole Seth Rogen Green Hornet thing
What I did not know was Michel Gondry directing
Gonna watch the trailer now

Should he be tripping through his dreams or memories or something? Or maybe the film could be comprised entirely of Legos?
