No worries, put up a bunch of nets.

Foxconn is known to the world for employing a bunch of people so you silly geese can have your iPhones, people can be underpaid to make them and as a result of their depressing salary of 130$-170$ a month, kill themselves.

This is the solution that the employer decided to implement as a result of 30+ suicide attempts.

What the flying fuck is going on over there? I guess this is a sign of the times considering we're living in a plutonomy, 1-8 mortgages are now ending in forclosure and people at the top are quite happy having all the wealth.

    When I applied to the call centre, they told me the position was open because the last chap, a long time serving employee, had thrown himself off the local bus station.

    Call centres need nets.

    Well, nets are a perfectly logical solution. Since people can only kill themselves by jumping from the 4th floor, right?

    no, Foxconn just gets painted in the media as "Apple's manufacturer" because it brings more pageviews. Apple is nothing more to them than Microsoft and Nintendo are, they're just one of many clients with large orders.

    Foxconn's suicide rate is actually below the average for that region, which is relevant since they employ enough people on one campus to inhabit a small city.

    well, i assume there has to be some sort of failure occurring in terms of a dialogue with the work force if there is a series of giant nets

    or yeah, maybe they're juggling a bunch of suicides and it's an interim solution while they have anti-suicide VHS tapes brought in

    suicide then rises accordingly as it isn't blu-ray 1080i

    well the concrete has been stopping them pretty efficiently already I don't see what more you're looking for


    seriously though

    they handed over control of the company dormitories to an external management company and upped salaries significantly before they installed the nets so plenty of other measures are being taken, it's just that the news goes "omg nets lol" because they know we'll all react the same way
