When Speed blew up the universe, the gods were replaced with new ones that were reflections of the party. One of them was Cheshire, who was a trickster death-god. He was the leader of what was more or less the main bad guy organization, though that wasn't revealed until very late in the story. One of the last things the party did was track down and kill their own "echo" gods so that they could claim their power and fight back against the Old Gods that wanted their positions back. Dubh was the first person to confront his echo, and left the encounter bitter (both in and out of character!) after it turned out that Cheshire had been planning his own death the entire time, and the vast majority of his power was transferred to Thieresai the recurring (and final) villain instead of Dubh.
We started the echo-hunting campaign, and things were starting to lose steam. So we started a new campaign that took place fifty years after the secret war against the old gods playing characters that were living in a universe ravaged by the battle (even though no one actually knew what happened)
Then we got bored of that after about a week and switched to a campaign with all of our old characters in the afterlife
Also, free hint: I'm not playing as my character from the last game because that would be super lame and rob DE?AD of an epitaph battle that I'm looking forward to seeing
