nah, that'd never be put in.

I dont mind the distance running as the pyro is quite deadly at close range. I just don't want to spend 5 mins looking for health after a failed rush became my target turned around by accident. Rushing a target with 175 hp or 100 is a life and death difference.

Its not really a matter of kill-ability but spending more time trying to kill and less fooling around. I ask for less downtime in pyro play.

Backburner should get a right click charge that burns fuel and leaves a fire trail.

    Yes

The entire team goes pyro, and constructs a FORTRESS OF FIRE UPON THE POINT OF CONTROL

FIRE THAT WILL CLENSE IT FROM THE EVIL OF THE ENEMY.

that's it, I'm shutting this entire forum down, everyone thank buttcleft

The worst thing you can do as a spy is turn a corner and block the enemy pyro from advancing.

Last night for me was a parade of teams who achieved that perfect deadlock on the defense where three engineers create functionally invulnerable sentries, the rest of the team blocks off every other route, and your medics can't build ubers because the enemy's ubers keep flattening your team. There's just nothing you can do about it and I'm not sure how I put up with two hours of it.

yeah it was pretty disgusting... that team was a hundred times more organized than the shit we had. on dustbowl we ended up feeling pretty good on the final point after getting rolled, and an uber comes in and kills a sentry. we're like okay, we got this. we have another sentry.

    two more ubers roll in.

If your target turns around, if you are at medium range, duck out of sight and fire your flaregun at them, if at close range, airblast then torch, or torch then airblast. I've made it a habit of airblasting after a second or two of torching. Within a second or two they have taken a chunk of damage and turned around, only to be spun around/disorientated again by your airblast. Plus, if it's a soldier or demo there is a chance you will reflect their next attack. I sometimes trap them in a corner and airblast them over and over so they can't get a target on me and cant run to get health, then usually back off and pelt them with my shotgun.

I never chase while blazing my flamer, if they are on fire that's usually a que to airblast or get out the shotgun/flaregun then back off and shoot. A lot of my kills are after torching then shotgunning.

The backburner should cloak the pyro, but only when he sits still.

    And he needs thermal vision.

    Woo!

Also if you aren't puffing people with fire, airblasting them into a corner/ prop, and Axe-ing them a question/ flaring them if they get out of range, you are playing pyro wrong.

I really want a towering pillar of hats, but I'm afraid it will look pretty obvious to the enemy that my pyro is ducking behind a wall or waiting underneath the spawn on Gravel pit's A point when they see a pile of hats bobbing around.

I took a break from that one to work on my Prop Hunt map and I took a break from my Prop Hunt map to do some life shit (just had a year-late wedding reception, my wife had family coming from all over the country. Plus it's the busiest time for the store I work at. My area is very tourist season-y, what with being right on Lake Michigan and all.)

I already can see a ton of shit I fucked up with it though, so it is going to take some serious motivation to get me working on it again. Lots of optimization fuck ups to fix.

edit: I might work on it today now that I'm thinking about it.

The best is when you kill a spy you didn't even know was there by shooting at someone else.

My best spy kill was on a Payload map. I was on top of my spawn with a couple of snipers as a scout while 'doing my rounds' (I like to race around the spawn area along the lesser used routes and such to sniff out spies before I hit the battlefeild) and saw someone right behind a heavy running back to the spawn for healing. I honestly can't remember if the spy was disguised or not (If he wasn't im sure the sentries would of cut him up), but I smacked out a sandman ball and bonked him across the head, literally the moment he was about to stab the heavy, then I simply jumped down and ventilated him with my scattergun.

The best part of this aside from that spy's frustration at being denied a kill and stunned was that the heavy had no clue what just happened and just carried merrily on his way.

Saving heavies from spies is a thankless job most of the time. As pyro I've blown away so many spies right before a stab and the heavy keeps marching forward oblivious.

But damnit, it felt good to save a Heavy's life without him even knowing, then dissapearing without a trace. This must be how God.... or Batman feels.

So what is the future of TF2? We've all been waiting for the class updates for years now, which I guess were originally intended to balance the problems at launch. What happens after the engie update? Do they go around again starting with the medic? Is this going to be the last big update for TF2? They can't update/support it forever, and I can't imagine they're making any profits anymore. Will it just be the occasional community hat/weapon release?

Will the engie update spell the end for TF2?

I imagine more weapon packs with themes, lots more hats, lots more tweaks, game modes, maps, everything.

TF2 is pretty damn popular. They aren't just going to be all "kay guys, that's the last update, cya later bros." Even with the cheap ass prices, they are making money off it. I mean they JUST released it for mac. It'd be a pretty dick move to pull the plug on updating after advertising it that much.

The day the Engineer update comes out they shut down TF2 completely and announce TF3. 10 years later, we'll get some news about TF3.

Well when was the last time they released a valve made hat/weapon/map/gametype? It seems they've been increasingly leaning towards just delivering what the community has created, rather then dedicating members of their staff to implementing new ideas to TF2. The obvious exception is the class updates, which are the rare occurrence of valve-made items, but if this is the last class update?

Even with the class updates the maps have only been sanctioned community maps, I think the last official valve map was with the release of the new gametype of Payload way back when. All of the hats for quite some time have been community hats.
