They had a quick side dash/roll

Yup. It was pretty neat in the one MP level that had a few tunnels that led out to a central area. You could zoom out as a scout, press the bumper, and end up driving on the wall of the tunnel for a while.

I will really miss the Leader/Destroyer's ram if vehicle abilities are out for reals.

The sequel has me intrigued. I put a bunch of time into the original WFC, and look forward to trying out the demo later on.

Reading the comments, I feel like I'm the only person ever who didn't play a backstab scout. I loved the pistol, rifle, and ... whatever that charge gun was called ... Scouts had a lot of options if people would have opened their eyes beyond "lol, I can 1-hit-kill sometimes".

Oh man the pistol was the shit. I don't know what it was about it but it felt so good.

That was the plasma cannon, which I never got the hang of, to my chagrin.

But hey, the only time I ever got a no-kills match in multiplayer was as a backstab-focused scout. And I still got like 13 kills.

Granted the opposing team was apparently made of incompetent boobs, but: cloak, transform, get behind someone, transform, kill, cloak, repeat.

I personally think it's the Null Ray. I got one on Soundwave too.

Although Starscream and Soundwave are both equal levels of awesome, I may have to wait until I have a less interesting character.

You had a choice of Dead End right there.

Speaking of, noticed in the demo there's a body style for Dragstrip.
Only ones missing are Wild Ride and Motormaster (or whatever his name is these days).

Wonder if there's a 3rd game we'll see the rest of the Arialbots and both Superion and Menasor.

Hey if I already have WfC on 360 but never beat it, would there be any good reason to get the PC version?

I just kind of hate turning on the 360 for almost a year now.

    There really isn't.

I'd just finish it on the 360 if you already own it.

The only thing the PC version has over the 360 one is higher res graphics.

My understanding is it never really had much of a multiplayer community; and when FoC comes out, it'll be past gone.

But if you didn't even care enough to finish it your first go around, I doubt something will grab you the second time.

This demo is taking forever to download. I don't know if my internet is just slow, or if it's because the demo for the PSN has only been out a couple hours and experiencing massive overload? I just want to transform now!

They have GOT to implement a Mute feature in multi.

I generally can't stand people braying into headsets, but if you are literally the only person playing that is wearing a headset and you're still screaming into it, you are a special kind of pet peeve.

There is absolutely nothing going on in Fall of Cybertron multi that even requires headset communication or coordination. Robots shoot robots to win. End of strategy. Granted, Escalation will be an exception to this, as that actually requires teamwork and coordination.

I will say - and this will probably sound strange - the tweaks they've made in regards to giving the characters and vehicles weight adds a ton of immersion for me. The animations and environments are fantastic. I actually feel like I'm participating in the Cybertronian war, not just moving a video game guy around in a video game.

One of the weapons for one of the classes has a POKE upgrade, but there's no POKE killstreak reward.
In fact, there's no kill streaks at all.

Also, I'll be getting it on 360 as well.

And yeah, only complaint is color selection.

And one of the loading screen tips is "The Punch of Kill Everything is an uber melee attack that is still in development due to flaw in the "kill everything" feature."

But that appears to be it for the POKE.

Also, gonna be on 360 myself.

Well its good to know its a shit port.

I think I got burnt out on the game before I beat it because when I bought the game there was a double XP weekend going on or something. Went all the way up to Prime level in a couple days and I think haven't looked back on the game since.

So I guess on Aug 10 they're raising the level cap for the demo. And since I'm having so much damn FUN playing Multi, I don't even really care about colors as much.

Also... HOST MIGRATION in mid match! Now if only it sorta worked. Unless 4 different people decide to quit at the same time. Hell, a match wound up just me and 1 other person, then suddenly 6 other players joined!

So, I downloaded the demo last night and played a bit. It was pretty fun! Are there more maps in the demo for team deathmatch than just the one with the rooms and walkways around the edges, though? It kept me on that map the whole time I played, and everyone was always trying to camp in the big central room with the lift in the center. It wouldn't have been a problem for an organized team to attack that position, but no one felt like communicating.

Some random comments about the demo:

    1. Both single player levels are really awesome. I really dig how the Vortex level has so many different strategies you can take to tackle it.

    2. A lot of people are bitching about how Destroyers aren't so good, but I disagree. If you aim toward your enemies' feet, you can take out a scout or a scientist in about 3 shots. More importantly, you can't lone wolf around the level and be okay facing more than one enemy, like you could usually do in WFC. If you're not with a teammate, you're doing it wrong.

    3. If you're not playing Conquest, you're doing it wrong.

    4. The color selection is a bit disappointing, but you can usually find something you like.

Yeah, Conquest is the only way to play. I've never understood the appeal of deathmatch. I need a goal to strive for, even if it's just helping my team capture more glowing things than the other team.

I dunno... Since here it varies on team size, 40 seems.... Ok. Maybe 50 would be better though.

I'm just thinking of other games like Halo with 2v2 and 4v4 where 50 is fine. Maybe they'll increase it?

I remember playing Medal of Honor Allied Assault multi in college. I only played Objective, which was round based. So if you got killed, you were out for the round. It was so intense and memorable.

I wish there was an option for something like that. Autobots have to go take out a Decepticon anti-aircraft gun (or whatever), 'cons have to stop them. Switch between rounds. One life. Watch each other's back, use the full potential of a class power set. Games that can last half an hour.

I'd put a headset on for that.

I'll be on the PS3. Just finished going through the single player stuff in the demo, played three or four online matches... yeah, this game is going to be fantastic. Going back to WFC it is astonishingly apparent how they designed levels first in that game and then came up with gameplay around it. This feels much more polished and purposeful. I love the quasi-random loot generators and the weapon upgrade system, as well as a bit more environmental character with audio logs.

I think my big complaint with this game will be the complaint I have with the last game. Never enough Transformers. Let me play as all six jillion of them.

if the game has co-op again then I'd play with you... assuming i have internet by the time it comes out. moving tomorrow leaves a lot of stuff like that up in the air.

    Only co-op is Escalation.

Campaign is single player focused, showcasing each bot's strengths. No more groups of 3.

Yeah it's not a big deal IMO. Not many people seemed to do the campaign co-op anyway. Escalation at least provided some variety.

I'm fine with it since it means, as @Nocren said, they can cater the campaign maps to play on the abilities of a bot instead of having it be uber generic so anyone you pick can do it. It'll just make the campaign more interesting; and Escalation will still be there, along with the other MP modes.

Destroyer is definitely not terrible after the balance update. Not sure how balanced things are in the grand scheme of things, as I have not hopped on to play too much since the update.

Though I do hope they make some changes to the Destroyer, if for no other reason than I'm not a fan of the the design direction they took the class in. Randomly only having explosive weapons is annoying, and I'm really not sure what they were going for with their abilities. The barrier can be helpful, but I don't find it meshes with the class's playstyle as well as Cloak for the scout, or Battle Sentry for the Scientist. And Hover Slam just seems particularly random. Ah well, might change my tune when I can actually try more of their stuff in full.

Edit: Also, anyone been able to make good use of the Scientist's Orbital Pistol? Seems hard to hit with, and even in team fights it feels like I would contribute more by just using the Neutron Assault Rifle.

Well, finally got around to playing the demo. It's good, really really good. I like the feel of all the weapons. The burst rifle in particular feels a bit meatier and more scatter-y then in WFC, where it felt very rigid. The singleplayer campaign seems to have a lot more enemies that make good use of cover, which makes the game feel even more like a third person shooter with a cover system that you never have to stick to cover. This gives it a fluidity and speed of play that normal cover-based shooters lack. I like it.

Not sure why they changed the weapon loadout system. In WFC, you could carry two regular weapons of any kind. Now in this demo, it seems like you can carry one regular weapon, and then one heavy duty weapon. That seems like an unnecessary restriction.

Vortex's demo level starts off with this huge expanse of tunnels and yards to fly through, and it's a sight to behold. Really brings back fond memories of the flight levels in WFC which looked spectacular and delivered really enjoyable gameplay experiences.

Graphically, the game looks like it's gotten some visual upgrades, specially with the metallic sheen on the bots. However, the lack of any anti-aliasing is getting painfully obvious.

I don't like the limited paint customization in Multiplayer, which is even more frustratingly limited then WFC. The actual body parts are fully customizable once you unlock them, but the paint jobs are locked into these dualities that I don't care for at all. Way less choices that we had before.

They also kept the fusion cannon away from the Titan class, just like in the previous game where the fusion cannon was kept away from the Soldier class. This makes no sense at all, because Megatron is a Titan class, yet he's unable to use his signature fusion cannon.

I think Megs still gets his Fusion cannon, the plebs are stuck with the Riot cannon knock-off. :P

Just because you LOOK like Fearless Leader, doesn't mean you ARE Fearless Leader.

Also, at least now the transformation has the tank's barrel(s) on the body instead like Megs in last game where the cannon was both the arm and turret.
