How much eye leaking is normal for dogs?

So, my (mini eskimo/chihuahua cross) often has leaky eyes, I'm just wondering how to tell the difference between normal leakage for small dogs vs. potential problem please-see-vet type issues. For example, today her eyes seemed leakier than they typically are for her, but I'm still not sure if it's, y'know, a problem worth paying vet bills to investigate, y'know?

Hmmm I think you might need to breed it with a more masculine dog and perhaps the next generation will be less prone to crying. I suggest a mastiff.

If the color and viscosity of the stuff is consistent, it's probably nothing... but from the pictures it almost looks like blood, and if it is that is most certainly not nothing. Is it just the skin tone the reason for it looking like that? My mom's dog has weepy eyes, has for the last several years, and hasn't had a vet say "something's wrong here, this discharge is _____". Is there a lot of pollen or potential irritants in the environment she's generally in? Is it worse in some seasons than others? Like I said, if it's consistent over a long period and in various climates, it's probably nothing.

heres how i see it being a total win situation for you
    1. stay with your wife while she dog sits. this wins husband points since she knows its out of your comfort zone
    2. have sex all over her friends house so that the next time you see her friend look at you condescendingly, you can wink back knowing you did the freaky deaky where she eats her cheerios.

Looks like built up tear staining, not an unusual problem in small dogs with light fur. You'll just have to wash her eyes with a wet towel and maybe some tear removing solution during her regular grooming.

I can vouch that my friend's healthy, cream-colored lhasa apso over-produces tears and it stains the fur red around the eyes.
