I have the Motorola Droid 2.1 stock. I've been looking at a lot of the custom roms and themes online and love them, but they all require root access. I have 0 experience with this sort of thing but from what I hear having a rooted phone has a lot more customizing options, which is what I want.
I've found guides for rooting at 2.0 which seem pretty easy, but I can't quite find the "idiots" version of rooting once you have a 2.1. Anyone had any experience with this? Is it relatively easy to do? If you have found a guide which worked well for you, could you link it?

This is a good one
It's really not too hard, but you will I know I sweated bullets waiting for it to boot.
Although, word of warning, When I tried to toss 2.2 on there a month or so ago, I did nearly brick my phone, I just happened to find a rom that would let me force feed it in. So do be careful
