My last name is polish for peasant farmer, and everyone messes up trying to pronounce it. Also one time a customs official in athens did a double take at the name and asked if I was legitimately polish (I'm american).

You know the opening bit in Gattaca where the father is disappointed in Ethan Hawke so he doesn't name him after his father and they have a second one and do it right and the second one gets the good name?

That is what happened with me. If my sister was a boy she would have been named Blake. Of course she disappointed them all, and so they had to have another go and I got the good name.

My sister was almost named natasha until my mother watched an episode of Rocky and Bullwinkle and decide she didn't want to name her daughter after someone evil.
