    NIGHT 7 - ENDGAME

DM: So.. where did Shushnik go?

TheLaw: Um... I think he just wandered off...

DM: Well, the remaining people have spoken. It seems like you're geeting fire breath'd.

TheLaw: Ah well. It was fun while it lasted.

    ****

DM: Yadda Yadda, less now than last night.

    THE DEAD

    Shushnik - Chaotic Good Fighter
The Lawinator - Chaotic Good Sorcerer

    Jdarksun - Lawful Evil Blackguard
    Celebrim - Lawful Evil Thief

    Chaotic Good has been eliminated.
    Lawful Evil has been eliminated.

It is mathematically impossible for TEUCRIAN the MUNCHKIN (Serial Killer) to win.

    BALANCE (Mafia) WINS!

Yeah, those could have been worse. I came up with one particularly horrifying power for the Psion.

...That was actually my first version of the Psion. I then noted the Mafia was a bit lacking in the damage section.

Ha! Maybe I should've been the Psion.

Soon as I died, I knew it was you, you dirty little Munchkin. Good cover story though, so I can't grudge you... too hard.

Aleggis victory was the best victory!

Also the way the factions were set up was pretty awesome as well.

This is the outcome I was hoping for ever since SkyCaptain got voted by the village instead of trying to eliminate the mafia. Pretty much the complete opposite of the L5R game. Of course, it doesn't help when villagers ask on DAY FIVE who the damn Mafia are. Read your damned win conditions.

that raises some interesting thoughts, kias.

BALANCE nuked ronrab with attacks because he was going to die to the vote.
then BALANCE used a teleportation staff to switch you and ronrab's places.

    or both...

  • TeucrianTeucrian Registered User regular
Damnit. So close. If Shushnik hadn't been inactive maybe he would have whacked a mafia. I only needed one more person to die. . . or maybe I could have had better aim. I really thought Jdark was BALANCE for some reason. Not sure if it would have mattered.

I'm kind of curious as to how it was definitively mathematically impossible for me to win. They must have had a lot of HP left or something. Because I could survive a couple of votes and some attacks, just probably wouldn't be able to deal out any damage. I actually didn't realize that you regular players had so much HP, figured you were more in the 50 - 80 range.

Oh and I didn't kill you directly Kias. I just told the mafia who you were. No hard feelings.

  • CapfalconCapfalcon Do you desire the POWER? Giant Mecha SuitRegistered User regular
They could do 100 damage a night (including the vote and subtracting your defense).

Both of them had 60 health, so you couldn't one shot them, so, after two nights, they would have dealt 200 damage to you.

There would have only been one person remaining, but that would have been the game.

Gotcha. Great game and thanks for running. It was a lot of fun to try and win as a serial killer. I came up with the cover role on day 1, but didn't want to pull the trigger. I figured it was possible that one or all of the factions had been told there was a serial killer out there, or I could be revealed in narration. I also thought for a little while that Alegis was a neutral whose goal was to kill me.

Once I figured out that there were no more unaffiliated parties, and I was relatively safe I went ahead with it. I'm really pleased with how well it worked, honestly. I figured I'd completely give myself away somewhere, especially if there were action seers around, but as long as the faction fighting stayed intense nobody could afford to waste resources on me. Without the cover, I never would have had a chance. There was way more firepower out there than I thought.

Sorry if my numerous lies bothered anyone. I figure I may eat a grudge or two for it, but that's phalla.

  • CapfalconCapfalcon Do you desire the POWER? Giant Mecha SuitRegistered User regular
So, my miscellaneous thoughts on the game.

Writing narration is hard. I'm not very good at it. Ah well. I may have to get a co-host if I ever want to do something where the narration matters.

Seering was not as big a deal as I thought it was going to be.

The first few days had a scary level of inadvertent coordination between the factions. For example, about 12 people in the game attacked Daniant on Day 1. What did she ever do to any of you :P

I really thought the Serial Killer had it there for a second, but the mafia won their bet with the last round of attacks.

Also, inactives in a faction game really mess things up. Much more than a regular game.

Finally. Damn, this was a pain to run. It was pretty fun coming up with all the ideas for it, but I'm not too sure I'm going to be running another one any time soon. Maybe if I get a really, really good idea that I feel would be criminal to not [strike]inflict[/strike] SHARE with everyone else.

Speaking as a neutral, we played... not well. All we had to do was survive, but we didn't put ourselves out there to take control like we should have. After all, we were able to win with anyone. But I think everyone just saw "neutral" and assumed we were mafia, not to mention the whole "wasting the vote-null item for shits and giggles" on Day 2 pretty much painted us as the mafia the village was looking for, and Balance just let them run with it.

Lawful Good proboards though not that much happened there.

In the end we just took too much heat for us to survive.

I thought this was pretty fun while i was still alive but was a bit confusing between balance and neutral.

  • CapfalconCapfalcon Do you desire the POWER? Giant Mecha SuitRegistered User regular
I will take part of the blame for the confusion, but, to be fair, each person's victory conditions were spelled out pretty clearly in the PM.

Seering was too difficult for me at least. I had four choices and very little time to use them.

I'm... really ashamed. Sorry guys. I somehow missed the "one dead post" rule in the phalla signup thread. Probably go back to lurking for a bit; obviously need to if I missed picking up on something like that.

no red, the last thing everyone wants is to scare away new meat.

if you've been paying attention to a few of the threads, games can get... intense... sometimes.

Surprisingly enough I wasn't attacked once.

Though by day 4 I knew I had to win that vote some day and my posts were getting ignored so it didn't help to 'spice up the bandwagon thread'.

Bargained for votes by offering a +5 magical defense item and roleblock gauntlets.

Here's the Balance proboard, but daniant will need to unlock it. http://zenneutral.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general

I feel kind of bad for limiting myself to posting once a day, but I couldn't think of a safe way to spin my posting restriction, so I just did my best to hide it with using light blue text and only posting when my post would end up in the darker blue field. Which meant I had to wait a couple hours some days before making my vote post.

I had quite a bit of fun though, thanks for running the game Capfalcon.

TheLaw attacked you (unsurprisingly), so the rest of CG just kind of jumped on you too. Not sure about everyone else.

Great job on the win, mafia. I thought for sure we were toast.

Nice game, Cap, I had fun.

I will note the village's confusion over the mafia was so bad I deliberately made a post calling attention to BALANCE because I was pretty sure it wouldn't make a difference, and it would look good as cover later. I don't think this is the GM's fault at all, though; people just weren't paying attention closely.

I was really bummed on missing a chance to work with Dunadan and Daniant, though, since they got killed so early. :? So much for my plans to fuse them into the all-powerful DUNADANIANT.

What made me laugh was you found 3 of 4 of the Lawful Evils by looking at the votes on you. Of course, you being outed mafia it made the whole thing funnier as it was Lawful Evil who found you in the first place.

Oh, before I forget, here's the items.

    Priest
    Spoiler:

    Mage
    Spoiler:

    Skilled
    Spoiler:

The way it worked is that your group could only find an item if you from any given category if you had the right class. I.E. If someone geeked your mage, you couldn't find any mage items. However, if you already had a mage item, everyone could keep using it just fine.

And I'm not putting up the percentile table, because that's going to be too much work. But, due to the intrest in the Orb of Dragonkind, the chances of getting the Orb item was 5% within the general Category. So, really, about 1%, since you had to get the General category to begin with.
