On our one-year anniversary my Mother-In-Law gave my wife a water globe as a gift. My wife likes to keep stuff like this and 15 years later it's still on a shelf in the living room...until a couple of nights ago. My three year-old wanted to listen to the music-box in it and when she was winding it, she dropped it and it shattered. Now, I'm a do it yourself kind of guy and I've been doing some research on it. I'm positive I can fix it if I can get the right things, and that's my problem. I can't find a suitable replacement glass globe.
I've been looking for two days and I simply can't find one similar. At this point I'd even settle for another water globe that I could take apart for the globe. Glass or plastic, I don't care as long as it's of similar size and shape. I was hoping someone here would know where to get one.
It was originally bought from a catalog of some kind, Fingerhut, HSC or something similar. It was advertised as one of those "Limited Collector's" things that you see all the time, and that my mother-in-law can't seem to resist (you should see her plate collection). The glass dome was originally egg-shaped, the mouth was about 3", it was approximately 4" at it's widest point and was about 5" tall. Also, as an added bonus, there are no manufacturer's markings of any kind anywhere on it.
Any help at all on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
