"Those people who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do."
I didn't realize you were Dylan Moran
I keep meaning to start Atlas Shrugged. I have a copy of it right behind me as I type. The Fountainhead was alright.
I filmed something my friend wrote but it was pretty awful. still I made clear to them I'd do whatever the hell they want and will give as much effort and input as possible.
unfortunately I don't really have anything. we're tossing around the idea of a horror type movie but it's half a joke so I need to decide what the focus of it would be to actually develop it at all.
i mean, i guess some people like that aesthetic
i know dudes who throw a heavy bag in their garage-gym and they never use it, but it just feels how a garage ought to feel to them
their money, i guess
"Those people who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do."
As an aficionado I understand buying books for show in the aesthetic sense. Sometimes I buy ones I have no idea about just because they are in gorgeous suede leather or have a Chip Kidd cover
but you and your family's shelves still say something authentic about you, Elldren. You have some sexy editions of classics you may never read and maybe some other beat up paperbacks that you love to death. that stuff tells a tale of you as people, it doesn't just say "well these go nice with my this american life CDs."
Actual Play: Mage: the Awakening - At the Edge of All Things
atlas shrugged is way worse
"oh, I've heard of this book/comic, how is it?"
and I'll be like
"i dont know! I haven't gotten to it yet, read it and find out!"
this is still good. you have equipment and people to work with, and you sound like you're actively trying to work on new shit.
good.
good good good.
i didn't know this was a thing that happened until i was outside scarborough with my brother
he's driving and we stop at a light and there's just two grubby homeless dudes who start walking towards our car
i am thinking what the hell is this they don't look like squeegee kids
and my brother opens the door and goes nuclear on them, just screaming and getting all puffed up and shit like he's going to rip their heads off through their assholes
they fuck off like a couple of raccoons you catch diggin' through your trash
gets back in the car and i am like "jake what the fuck was that dude, i didn't wanna get in a fight with some fuckin' hobos tonight what is wrong with you"
and he's like "bro they were going to fucking jack us, don't you know shit about anything, people who just walk towards your car like that, especially dirty shitstains like that, they're going to fucking jack you"
i was like "that is bullshit" and dropped the subject
then did some asking around later and found out that this is a thing that happens and that my brother's behavior, while possibly really stupid, probably saved us from having to deal with two bandits
My boss there was kind of an awful person, this horrible right-wing pseudointellectual who always tried to convince me of the error of my ways, but I did appreciate his somewhat withering contempt as he dealt with these people.
Actual Play: Mage: the Awakening - At the Edge of All Things
yeah I feel decent about it.
man in my case
i was like
hey, uncle james, step on the gas
and he's like what, no, it's red
and i'm bigger and tougher and (he knows) more streetwise than him
and i go
THERE ARE TWO WOMEN IN THE CAR, STEP ON THE FUCKING GAS
and he does
It plays so well on Gabe's expressions in the panels.
"Those people who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do."
old D&D editions, Palladium books, bunch of RPGs i don't play anymore and never will
i still have them, though
for a while i kept them around purely to populate my bookshelf because i liked having a giant-ass bookshelf of rpg books
Exactly, yeah. I think they as objects are like maps of a life. I look at my shelves of books and dvds and think of who I was with when I watched something, or a great vacation where I found some book I'd been wanting for years, or whatever.
Actual Play: Mage: the Awakening - At the Edge of All Things
It is the greatest thing, because people will actually look through them.
he's like me, but younger, angrier, more irresponsible, still a drug dealer, and like six times more confrontational and aggressive
even though he's my little brother there's times that hanging out with him feels like i'm hanging out with raoul duke
my older brother is like this
i think i understand why we get along, pony
it's not like a requirement
also you don't really seem like a fully settled down dude
I love my stuff but it would suck if I wasn't planning to live in this house in this town for a long time.
Actual Play: Mage: the Awakening - At the Edge of All Things
Is this the same one that uses all the slurs?
Night, [chat].
that's my younger brother (and also my uncle)
my younger brother is actually really small (5'1", maybe 105 lbs, 18 y/o) and he can't handle himself for shit
my older brother (big dong guy) is the one who deals real drugs and has gotten me into too many fights and who can actually handle himself
because stasis = death
so here are some pictures of a pretty lady I can't show you because I am jailed
also they are huge, beware
true dat, i gave most of 'em away once it became clear that i'd have to move
but i think even when i do get settled and i have an income i'll probably move into the e-world, get ebooks and like, a multimedia computer instead of physical media
i'm kind of a minimalist type of guy
except for maybe family pictures (and i don't even really like those) my ideal aparment probably would be very generic and out of a catalog of futuristic design
:^: that is rad!
my coffee table right now at 3:21am, Sunday, August 15th is rocking:
- two volumes of The Year's Best Science Fiction edited by Gardner Dozois
- a sketchpad
- a chemistry textbook
- the Mutants & Masterminds core rulebook
- the Ghost in the Shell manga TPB (the original, from like 1994)
- the D&D Eberron campaign guide
- Asimov's Guide to the Bible, vol 1
- two issues of Interzone, the UK science fiction magazine
- last week's issue of the local hipster alternative weekly newspaper
- Warhammer 40k: Codex: Imperial Guard
- a Nine Inch Nails CD (probably Downward Spiral)
- the DVD of Inside Man
Actual Play: Mage: the Awakening - At the Edge of All Things
thinking about it is pretty ridiculous
i have told him many, many times that being a drug dealer is not a smart life choice
he's not even good at it
he's constantly in the red because he smokes too much of his own product and shares too much shit with his friends and cheap brother who won't buy his own pot
but when i bring this up to him he's like "listen construction is really slow right now and we both don't want me to go into collecting so this is what i do, okay, it's just till i get my mason's apprenticeship"
he got accepted into the mason's union a week ago, let's see if the dealin' stops
of course even if it does it won't change the fact that he lives with two other dealers, one of which works in a headshop
so he'll still be in that environment even if he doesn't do it himself
Fluffy, those are nice pictures of a pretty lady.
