I have camped without a tent in the middle of winter in Alberta. It was a pretty cool weekend.
edit: But now I am older and an air matress is a necessity.
The greatest place to hang out in Albuquerque is about 400 miles away from it, in any direction

now Albuquerque is pretty terrible but uhhh
uhhhh
You just went the wrong direction
when you say air mattress, you are terrible at "camping"
he said in any direction
YoSoyTheWalrus.
He just assumed you were not bad at life and would naturally go in the correct direction, that is his fault
Careful of those sheep. They're as malicious as their cousins.
You are an energy drink.
Yessssss. I'm glad somebody did it.
So the 400 mi is give or take. Amarillo can be an okay place to visit, provided you have friends there

amarillo is pretty nasty, but I don't like the panhandle at all
santa fe, however, is nearby and neat
and I'm bad at bbcode
but at least I've slept in the woods the right way
dead horses or something
cape alava near ozette, wa
it is so beautiful there
i am so bloody excited
one side is this:
and the other side is all lush forest and meadows and trails
yeah man! this is the 2 person tent i'm probably going to get (click)
2.6 kg, so that's like, what, 5lbs? Not bad at all. I may put a little more cash down to go lighter, but eh. (Also I'm noticing that it's 6' long and Bombs is 6' tall ... if not more ... so that might not work :S -- do you have a link to the one you got, gafoto?
and this is the backpack i'm getting for sure, it is superb (click)
i remember when i went backpacking when i was 19 i had a really uncomfortable orange backpack with steel poles all up ins.. i mean, it was OKAY but i wouldn't want to hike anymore than a few miles with it at a time.
looking for comfort this time around.
can anyone recommend a good stove for backpacking - light and resilient and easy to pack away?
Maybe I'll try setting up a camping trip in Point Reyes at some point. It's ridiculously pretty up there.
Yes this is why I was Not Serious.
Denver is cool because you can do Big City Livin' and still be 45 minutes away from the really cool places. The Rockies start to get pretty fucking dramatic once you get about 20 miles closer to them. "All up in their ass," you might say.
Driving through Denver sucks - I-25 and I-70 both cut through some of the ugliest parts. Next time you come through, take the West-end roundabout - C-470, it's a much better drive.

The tent I bought is the Black Diamond Lighthouse. I think it has been discontinued but you can still buy it for the outrageous MSRP some places. I bought mine for half off on geartrade.com. That site is the shit. 90% of the items on there are items sold by Backcountry.com that they got returned to them for various reasons. Usually you can get a super good deal on a mostly new item.
I'm 6'4" and I need a tent that is at least 86 inches long to sleep comfortably. I can make do by going diagonal but it really is a drag not having a tent that you fit in.
I just love towns like Ouray where the town is "all up in the San Juans ass" so to speak. Per say. As it were.
I live in Moab. The dominant language in this town is French or German depending on the day.
