[Earthrise] needs hype — badly! (A sci-fi MMORPG).
In the aftermath of the Third World War, mankind has managed to survive and build a new society: the prosperous city of Sal Vitas. Cloning, nanotechnology and quantum engineering are part of a new reality. Thanks to these technological advances, the human species has become immortal; each individual’s consciousness is stored in a data vault, ready to be uploaded into a cloned body as necessary. New energy sources have been discovered. There is a unified government that takes good care of those citizens who abide by its strict laws. Paradise, it appears, might really have come to Earth, and the people have embraced it.
But not everything is as perfect as it appears. By exercising full control over the cloning process, Sal Vitas' government decides who will live and who will not, playing the role of God on Earth. Insurgent forces have accused the city's rulers of crimes against humanity. Armed factions fight for resources and power within the new system. And from the waves of discontent, a rebellion has fomented and formed a shadow government: Noir.
Featuring a unique skill-based advancement system and player-driven economy, as well as extensive, meaningful player-vs.-player combat, Earthrise gives you innumerable choices to forge your destiny. Whether you're a noble soldier in the raging conflict between the Utopia and the rebellion, a criminal hiding from the law or a world-renowned engineer whose power extends into intricate trade and politics, your actions will echo throughout the game world.
Even it has not make much buzz in recent months, developers have a “Question of the Week” activity to inform their forum-goers of the project.

A personal comment: I’m eager for this game. I played Anarchy Online as a froob for a time but the game mechanics were considerately dull. The game is fascinating but terribly outdated.
Earthrise comes to fill the gaps AO suffered and I decided to start a thread. What do you guys think?
Man I have such a craving for a AO like scifi mmo that gets at least most things right. I can be pretty forgiving if the setting is good and it plays well. I get a AO vibe from some of those screens and that's a good thing.
Signed up for the beta. A sci-fi MMO appeals to me, but besides this thread I have heard nothing about it, so I'm not raising my hopes too high just yet.
Long overdue, still feels a bit vaporware to me. I'll get into it when it feels more likely this will see the light of day.
I feel the same. But to me this feels closer to release compared to Rifts and TERA, supossed games to be innovative but that follow the common fantasy standard for most MMORPGs.
Earthrise brings a different flavor to the modern scene. While not new, underdeveloped.
I hope they learned lessons from titles like Tabula Rasa and AO.

In what way is this closer to release than either of those two games?
I just wanted to make a thread for this game that looks promising and let other players know about it. To tell you the truth I'm not a hardcore MMO player. Hell, I'm just a casual gamer.
But I would like to start a guild/organization with interested PA forum members if it's possible.
EDIT: If your comment comes from reading the name of title, I just thought it might be funny. It (the game) also doesn't makes much noise. The devs are quite discrete.
There's just a teleporter/elevator/thing in the middle of a field with no other structures. It just looks weird. Especially in a game that's futuristic, you wouldn't expect this shit to be sitting out in the open. If it were an elevator it could be a bit better designed for an underground bunker or whatever. These little gotchas make me not interested. Just saying.
The FPS in the gameplay video looked really low. It doesn't put my expectations for it any higher than a turd sandwich, but I'll still try for the beta on the off chance I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I love crafting stuff

We'll see how it is.
Ed & Larry : "Doesn't matter."
I recently was gifted a thing in Steam. If it was from you, thank you very much!
I want to know more PA people on Twitter.
It has psychic powers but they are optional to your character development.
I wish they had a vibe like D&D psionics. Still, only some artwork has been published about them.

OK, I'm out. Thanks.

How about you make accusations like that in reports instead of the thread?
No.

TYVM.
I just wish there was more interesting information and media available on the game.
BTW, new interview: http://www.gameogre.com/forums/mmo-interviews/8114-earthrise-interview-w-atanas-atanasov-producer-earthrise.html
The pic shows a possible teleporting device and dual-wielding.
Perhaps for a guild/organization base.

The character might be holding tools, not weapons. He used them to craft and deploy a teleporter.
Because there's no way in hell you could make it not look like a giant cup in the middle of a jungle-ish area, mirite?

when it was designed back in some sci-fi labs on planet sci-fi, I doubt the engineers had palm trees in mind
I hope repositioning in game is something more than running away.

Tentacles?
And considering the game went live today.
Why, oh why, can't we get a good Sci-Fi MMO? I loved me some AO back in the day...but back in the day.
Oh well. Back to praying for AO 2 someday.
