Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
What is Rubicon, you ask? Simply put, it's what would happen if Tom Clancy made a TV show, but without being boring as shit.
It's airing on AMC right now behind Mad Men every Sunday and it's fucking fantastic. Everything from the direction to the writing to the acting to the pacing is spot on and elegantly executed. It is, in fact, the only quality dramatic spy show in the US that isn't goofy/over the top. I'm looking at you, 24.
The ensemble cast is headed by this smoking-hot hunk of man:
And he's but one of the multiple excruciatingly attractive people who appears on screen with good regularity.
Bonus points: the guys behind the show are also responsible for this one:
If you haven't seen that one, either, well they you should just roll into a ditch and die. Seriously, you're missing out. So what the fuck are you waiting for? Go catch up online or watch it live every Sunday. I guarantee you won't regret it. And if you do, it's because you suck.
If I had me a DVR I would have watch them already.
Need to go to my cousins and consume them.
I had no idea that these guys were partly responsible for Brotherhood until you said so. I just read Brommel's wiki and see that he wrote on Carnivàle.
this show actually had some serious behind the scenes drama in that the original showrunner was replaced after the first or second episode. i think the new guy getting his feet under him played a big part in how slow this show has been to develop its voice.
Rubicon is a slow burn. The first few episodes were kind of boring, but you could tell that they were building up to something. Episodes 5 and 6 have really picked up the pace. I just hope that enough of the audience has stuck around to get the show renewed for another season.
Edit: also, the title sequence is fucking amazing.
I watched a few episodes of this, it seem mostly "there is a connection"
"to what?"
"I don't know, quite possibly political humor that sourced in frosted flakes cereal by a failed poli sci major"
people with ADD diss a show that doesn't slap them in the face with plot itt
it's not really a show for everyone. i like it, but i would also say that nothing about it is really good enough to warrant someone who didn't like it at first giving it another go. in many ways it is still about where it began. i just happen to enjoy that place.
in the first episode a man kills himself, another guy gets killed, and there is a troubling code stumbled upon by the main character that involves three different papers' crossword puzzles that all give the same answers.
That wasn't interesting to you?
In another episode the supporting characters have to decide whether or not to say yes to sending a drone attack to kill a leading al qaida guy, who is in a building that may or not be inhabited by children.
I just don't understand people who say nothing is happening I guess.

in every episode a rich woman mopes
(i haven't seen the most recent episode yet but i figure probably that trend has yet to reverse itself)
her character is really the only thing i actively dislike so far. i know she's obviously going to end up uncovering interesting stuff, but they have paced her story really horribly.
the intelligence stuff and the conspiracy stuff is real neat though and i will watch this forever because i am a sucker for it
Is it espionage porn or is it conspiracy porn? There's a big difference between the two for me.
It seems to blend both effectively. The main character's job fills the espionage porn part, while his extra-curricular activities covers the conspiracy porn aspect.

I need to hurry up and get back on this.
Well at least they replaced him with a guy who knows his shit front to back.

If it is bad I will blame hacksaw.

It wasn't very good then, does the show get better after the first episode?
"to what?"

But I really don't blame anyone who gave up on it after the first couple episodes.

in another, mentions that her husband might have had an affair.
in next week's episode, she tends to her rose garden only to find suspicious weeds
it is slow developing but the tone and the characters involved make it extremely interesting to watch
it reminds me of Michael Clayton, which I loved, except with government spies instead of lawyers and evil firms
They did, so what I am saying is that this show needs to be better than a show that only lasted seventeen episodes.
Satans..... hints..... I'm a mo bro!
