Shadows of the DAMNED- Hot girlfriends... FROM HELL. Suda X Mikami X Yamaoka
Shadows of the DAMNED is a new game directed by Suda 51 and produced Shinji Mikami, as well as music from Akira Yamaoka.
Expect alot of craziness, lovable jank, and totally fucking rad music.
So far the plot looks to be following the story of Garcia Hotspur, hunter of demons, saving his girlfriend from hell. There's a British flaming skull called Johnson, who turns into weapons such as the "Boner".
I dunno, looks really janky to me now, but what's suda without a little bit of jank?
Will wait and see.
It kind of looks to me the same surface level jank as in God Hand or a Suda game. Where it all makes sense and is awesome once you get into the game a little.
Spectral vending machines? Extra big monsters? I'm most curious just because, well, the last time Suda and Mikami worked together, we got killer7. So, really, anything could happen.
Just like Vanquish, this game immediately appeals to me because of the names associated with it. Actually, much more so than Vanquish.
Shinji Mikami is promising. Akira Yamaoka guarantees godly music. And Suda-fucking-51.
But damn, the setting and graphics look generic right now. I want to get really hyped for it, but right now all I'm thinking is that they'll probably find a way to make up for the game's initial shortcomings. I hate that so many new games seem to be handicapping themselves right from the start.
Well, I've noticed, with Suda's games anyway, the initial release trailers tend to have little to do with the end product. Even WITH gameplay footage, I suspect when '11 comes around there will be several tweaks to things. For now, I'm happy with an undisclosed european city, where damned things lurk and must be slain by Mr. Hotspur.
My low point came while I was crushing man's skull like sparrow's egg between my thighs. But then I thought to myself, "who else would crush man's skull like sparrow's egg between his thighs?"
I was kinda hoping for something a bit more genre defying. The more I watch the trailer the less disappointed I am, but hopefully there's more to it than RE4 with more style and demons.
Mr. Banballow was so badly maimed, he turned into a hideous monster, oozing and bleeding, snarling and growling like a beast---enraged and bent on revenge. He tracked down the kids responsible for the fire and killed them one by one----with a blowtorch. That wasn't enough for Banballow. He won't leave his inn or his memories, so there he waits....in ambush....
I think the art direction looks incredibly promising. This interview gives you a slightly better look at some previously shown scenes, but still no details.
Suda does call it a "psychological thriller" but I wonder how exactly they plan on delivering that. It looks like it could be almost any other Third-Person Shooter from this generation, but I really hope that it's not cover-based. I'm getting really sick of those.

Because that's what this makes me think of. He even has a little flaming skull sidekick?
Could be awesome.
This is going to be everything RE5 should've been.
Welcome to the world on this side.
That was a spectral ABSINTHE vending machine.

Demons, guns and tits.
More games need Hispanic protagonists and comedic talking skulls. Also grindhouse.
All right, people. It is not a gerbil. It is not a hamster. It is not a guinea pig. It is a death rabbit. Death. Rabbit. Say it with me, now.
Edit - Oh shit, June 7 is the perfect time for a game like this to come out.
Infamous 2, alice, this game, errr....
I'm sure there'll be others.
Only kidding guys.
