Bitching Thread V: Out of Continuity and in Another Reality
Got something comics related to bitch about? This is the place for that.
Popular topics of bitching:
-- Greg Land traces porn (and other things too!)
-- J. Michael Straczynski is ruining Superman!
-- Brand New Day / One More Day / One Moment in Time
-- Jeph Loeb hasn't written any good comics since 2004 (or maybe even earlier than that!)
-- Mark Millar only writes shock content now. The days of good Millar comics are long past.
-- Geoff Johns has a hard-on for Hal Jordan and other silver age heroes. Also, he writes gore porn on occasion.
-- All of Matt Fraction's current comics are full of fluff and filler and should be condensed into 3 or 4 issues.
-- The 90s were a bad time for comics
Hey, do you hate when comics are bad? Disappointed by something? Want to talk about it? Do it here. Keep it out of the other threads. This is where you can vent, and warn others about what you don't like.
This is where you can be angry and make bad jokes and whatever. If I see bad jokes and anger and stupid nonsense in other threads, I'll probably infract you. If you want to discuss problems you have with the subject of a thread in that thread, you can, but I'm going to expect you to be civil about it.
This is especially true for the moment of the week thread. Those threads are for highlights. If you want to bitch about something in there, well, I'm not going to have much tolerance for it.
Oh and side note, the phrase "moment of the weak" is stupid and you should feel stupid for using it.
The 90s werent bad. I demand that be removed from the OP. Scarlet Spider, Azbats, Superboy with a leather jack and jerry curl, Phil Urich Green Goblin - it was GLORIOUS.
Hey, the Loeb thing isn't exactly true. Some of Fallen Son was good, the last issue being excellent, and currently Ultimate X is pretty good. Too bad Art Adams is killing the book with delays.
What the hell is going on with caps chest in that picture?
Rob Liefeld was drunk when he drew it
he apologized after the fact
He still made money off of it.
Because 9% think it's too high, and shouldn't be cut! 9% of respondents could not fully
get their arms around the question. There should be another box you can check for, "I
have utterly no idea what you're talking about. Please, God, don't ask for my input."

Blame the people willing to buy it, not Liefeld.
Blame the people who bought it ironically.
I think all 3 of those parties are to blame, actually.

Man, I am sick of people trying to tell me that DKSA was actually good.
I enjoyed DKSA about as much as I enjoyed DKR. It was just so goddamned whacky, almost like Robot Chicken made it.
I haven't read it all, only bits and pieces, but the Captain Marvel parts seemed good, and I like the insane Plastic Man because I have a story idea involving PM going evil and it taking pretty much the entire DC universe to stop him (he'd take out any characters who'd be most effective against him secretly first).
Oh yeah. The girl that's part of the Falcone family and might or might not be Selina Kyle's sister. That arc was dumb. And the girl disappeared from the Bat-verse after that arc was completed.
If I wore that, I would disappear as soon as possible as well.

Munch's idea for a character named Catgirl was pretty good.
Also, it does suck that the GLA doesn't have an ongoing. I'm confident that the main reason there is demand for Deadpool is because of a need for more humor. The response to that shouldn't be a ton o Deadpool titles, but simply more fun titles that stand on their own.&
She had a 1 shot in one of the recent Avengers 1 shot story comics, but ya Squirrel Girl needs her own title.
( the 1 shot was barely a tease, was 1 page)
Well, we need another property to overexpose, don't we?

Recently I pulled my collection of Deadpool's original ongoing out of the closet and while I still think everyone who wasn't Joe Kelly or Gail Simone wiffed majorly on the title, I'd like to approach somwthing those two writers did...
...which is make Wade something other than a constant stream of jokes. It's possible to make a character funny without said character being on all the time, something Way can't grasp, and when a running gag goes on for too long without a break it eventually gets really old. It's best exemplified in how Kelly and Way treat Deadpool's need to be a hero. Kelly treated it as a serious examination of what it would take for a someone who has done horrible things all his life to turn everything around and start helping people...and Way treats it as nothing more than an excuse to do more WACKY CRAZY COMEDY that, while funny, basically feels hollow as Wade is no longer a character but just a cipher for humor.
And really, that's what I miss. When Deadpool was a character.
But thinking about it Way's work pisses me off even more because Deadpool was getting better that entire book and less crazy and now that's just been completely blown out of the water with the stupid narration boxes.
Have to politefully disagree with you Furu, so far I've loved Way's take on Deadpool. Yes it's different from the previous writers and I'm not saying it's better or worse but I love it personally.

So he only draws while drunk? BOOM! POW!
He still made money off of it.

That picture of cap? It's actually a novelty fridge that is partly open.

The first chapter's really good though, with Barry and Ray getting broken out of their respective prisons.

you forgot Cable and Deadpool

It honestly should have been the last time Deadpool was used.
It had the goddamn perfect ending for that character.
I dig the shit outta Deadpool, but man, there was nothing left to do with him.'
He finally got what he wanted.

And I'ma be honest, I think that Bea Arthur joke was a bit too played out.
