    you are a good person

David Berman is also a good person, because without him the world would never know that sometimes a pony gets depressed

basically if I just went 'no I don't like this voice this is shit I will never listen to anything like this' I would not listen to 90% of the music I do now

I only got into metal vocals because I really liked opeth and just kind of put up with the harsh vocals because the clean bits and the music were really good, then I started listening to other stuff with harsh vocals because I liked the music and was just neutral on the vocals and now I like em and don't really like opeth

Just means that all the music I like features vocalists with pretty accessible voices

    Nothing wrong with that

Is there some kind of comprehensive list of people who have gotten in?

I mean, I could google it or look through the incredibly long thread to see if it has already been posted, but it's like 4 and I'm barely sentient.

    you know

    i absolutely love tom waits

i would like to point out however, that the institute is called the 'ROCK AND ROLL' hall of fame

if forced to at gunpoint, what genre would you classify "Going Out West"?

because this is a scenario that could happen

    hypothetically speaking of course

When I saw this thread title, the first guy that popped into my head was Tom Waits.

    This news makes me happy.

that is completely and utterly wrong llama

you shouldn't have to sit there and make yourself like a singer's voice

it is okay to not like something

I made myself listen to most of the music I listen to today
I didn't like it at first, now I do
I have vastly expanded the category "music I enjoy"
    to me this seems advantageous

edit: there is still music, however, try as I might, I can't enjoy

Once in a while when I'm in the mood for Radiohead I try to listen to Kid A

I like other Radiohead stuff, so hey

But nope, can't enjoy it. It's just meaningless noise. Then I remember that I could be listening to their other stuff instead, so I do.

That's kind of how I feel about Sonic Youth. They have a handful of excellent songs mixed in with a lot of poop from a butt.

descriptions of them I have read include the word 'Wagnerian' but that just makes me think the author is a bit of a tosser most of the time
