Oh I'm not blaming the people at the scene, I'm blaming the people giving them orders. Fires have a way of getting out of control even when they're being actively fought. To leave one alone causes more damage and has the potential to threaten more lives than breaking protocol in an emergency situation does.
I mean, I guess you can keep calling me childish or implying I'm just being WARGLBARGL but it's not a kneejerk emotional concern I'm voicing. I'm voicing my problem with the protocol for this situation being completely out of whack with the more realistic priorities that the firefighters should be dealing with, not just to protect the property of someone late with a payment, but to protect the property and lives of the people in the surrounding vicinity (and maybe further since sometimes fires like to spread pretty goddamn far) who do actually pay their bills and taxes.
