ah, and to be fair loren, this was a few days after you said you didn't have anyone to argue with
and I'm not saying this is necessarily the case, but to a lot of people it would seem like you picked a fight for the hell of it
Well yeah, that's cause no one was contributing to threads where I had a disagreement about something. I mean, I'm not capable of manufacturing controversy out of whole cloth, I need material to work with, and material that I care about.
Like, if there was a creationism thread here I would have nothing to contribute. Because I don't really care about that issue, it's pretty much resolved in my mind and I'm satisfied with the heuristics I've developed with respect to that issue.
The Social Network is something new and something I hadn't really thougth about before, so I was happy to discuss it. The fact that it hits the sweetspot of fanboyism rubbed on my interest in tribalism as well, but that was just gravy.
I'm kind of sad it went down the way it did, and I only hope more threads along those lines come up in the future.
In the meantime, I'm disagreeing with fundamentalist atheists over at rationalskepticism.org.
If the kotor mmo is trash I will be forced to give up on MMOs for another few years while waiting for something good to come out.
I think it's a big problem that it takes so long to find out if an MMO is any good. You have the entire hype cycle, followed by the beta, followed by the early release. And how that MMO fares will inform future MMOs which will take just as long between announcement and culmination.
I don't know how this dog ended up being so loving towards people without ever being played with. Dog does not know how to play games. Zero interest in dog toys, won't even grab a toy.

Sounds like my corgi, what you might have to do is coat one of the toys in food. Like baby.
Preacher on
I would like some money because these are artisanal nuggets of wisdom philistine.
I want to make a webgame that would basically be my ideal online RPG, but cheap webgames are fucking common these days. And mostly terrible.
Perhaps iOS will be my saving grace. I should get an iPad... for development reasons...
Objective C / Cocoa / their dev tools are the devil man.
Well I could develop for XBox but I don't think there's really a market for the kind of dinky episodic collect-a-thon I have in mind. Web or portable makes way more sense.

You're both wrong. The dog doesn't want to play with the toys because dog toys are stupid. Hey look a bone oh wait it isn't haha a squeaky noise NO. That's dumb who would want to play with that, you're treating your dog like an infant. Get him a puzzle of a poodle presenting, that's what you need to do. Something somewhat challenging and then there's a sexy reward for completion!

well then there's Android (Java, better tools than for iPhone), Win7 Phone, HTML5 / Web, Flash etc...
really, and as per usual for Apple, the iPad / iPhone are a crappy technologicial cul-de-sac when it comes to development.

That guy is really whiny. His points might be valid but he should have ripped off the writing style from the ABP dev.
I'm pretending in my head that the movie Loren found inaccurate was Serenity.
the "no true scotch man" fallacy.

Don't worry, in 20 years my MMO will come out and it will be amazing.
ahahahaha!
I dunno if selling yourself to strangers is really considered "massively multiplayer" sarks.

much better if you pretend it was star X (where X is the variable)
What kind of MMO?
*crosses fingers*
Please say sex MMO.
a few more years and nobody's going to know who Dustin Diamond was
that joke should not have taken me 8 minutes
the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
Right. I mean the man already has two wives, hasn't he suffered enough?
I mean, I'm awesome and that's what I'd do. So it must be true.
this working days for long hours is stupid
what the fuck do people do this for regularly this is stupid
It will be built on top of a very extensible scripting engine.
Zing!

Python. Then there'd never be any risk of people taking it too fast.
the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
I would totally do that.

except no one's trapped in the game, that was stupid
but everything else, I want that. I would play that game.
Perhaps I should get an iPad as well ... to help you beta test ...

You better not get trapped because getting trapped in a Korean MMO is literally a circle of Hell.
