Stuff to do in Northbrook Illinois?

I am going on a training trip to Allstate's headquarters in Northbrook Ilinois, a town/suburb to the North of Chicago. My training lasts until 3pm each day I'm there. Is there anything special to do in that area?

Note: Please don't recommend bars to drink in, as I don't drink.

According to Wikipedia, Northbrook was originally named Shermerville, after Fred Schermer, who donated the money for the suburb's first railroad station to be built.

I would recommend using that railroad station to go to Chicago. It's a short trip, and there should be Metra trains running back outbound to Northbrook until 11pm or midnight.

I guess if that's viable, the next question would be what can you do in Chicago on a weekday evening? Visit the tower formerly known as Sears?

What do you want to do? There's a lot in Chicago you can do.

What do you like to do? There's a million things to do in Chicago on any given day of the week, but I have no idea what you're looking for. There are restaurants, bars, museums, art galleries, architecture, tourist attractions, sports teams, live music, theater, shopping, etc. You're going to have to narrow things down a bit.

Having Google Map'd it a little, I'm not sure about the Chicago proper angle: I'm in the Crowne Plaza Hotel on the southwest side of Northbrook, while the Metro station is three or four miles over on the east side. I dunno if I'd have the time to get across town, grab the train, hop into town, do stuff, then come back.

If there's an alternative, I like sightseeing and shopping. I might pick up some DVDs.

There's a Pinstripes in a mall* on Willow Rd, which also has a lot of the usual national chains.

And Evanston is fairly close if someone has a car or take the Metra.

I have no idea what your interests are but

http://www.nickelcitygames.com/ is/used to be a semi decent place with a lot of old arcade games, some of them on freeplay.

I haven't been there in years though.
