In Karkat's pad there's an alcove to the north of the transportilizer that takes you to the ectobiology room, investigate it and you should find a secret switch.

there's a version on the SA FYAD forums in everyone's sigs but you can't right-click it so i haven't the slightest idea if it might be a bit smaller without the bg
