Catcher in the Rye was an awful book. First time I've put down a 'classic' and was actually pissed off it managed to attain such a rep.

Really? I mean, it's hardly my favourite but it didn't strike me as particularly bad. Especially for high school required reading.

I still have good memories of WoW when I was first just exploring Elwynn. Everything was totally new to me having only ever played WCIII before it and it kind of blew my mind that this entire area was a country that had been mostly untouched by undead.

The Catcher in the Rye was great. The character was a completely insane asshole.

Well...I don't think it was badly written, I just didn't like it.

Compared to say, A Separate Peace, which WAS badly written (and I didn't like it).

Fable is a fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me kind of franchise.

If I had bought Fable I would have been totally angry. The idea of being literally fenced in on your path just sounds like balls.

I don't know whether it was Cass or I who bought Fable II but I really liked it a lot. The simple battle system was actually pretty satisfying fairly early on, and by the end you could slice one dude with a giant axe, shoot a few guys away from you with a musket/pistol (turret ones were cool, basically revolvers that let you shoot a few times without reloading) and then charge up a spell like force push or even just fireballs.

It felt really fluid and fun.

I mean, it wasn't a super open kind of game but what was there was great and I never heard any hype for it, really.

I just remember the hype and then the grumbling over the let down. Dave's said about as much about it, like it's a fun game it just isn't what was advertised - which was THIS IS THE GREATEST THING EVER IF YOU DON'T BUY THIS YOU'RE DOOMED TO BE SHIPPED OFF TO A DESERT ISLAND TO BE EATEN BY MEERKATS.

My favorite part is how two children manage to turn ground which has lain fallow for years with a few days effort.

Ever taken a pitchfork to a garden that's been fallow for just one winter? Shit sucks, talk about back-breaking labor.

"So remember how Fable was really awesome but you wanted more BECAUSE YOU'RE A FAGGOT WHO DOESN'T RECOGNIZE PERFECTION? Well here you go cockgobbler, 'cause this sequel right here is like A GOLDEN BAG OF DICKS JUST FOR YOUR NANCY ASS. It is so awesome we showed it to a guy and he DIED. So buy our new game you won't be disappointed this time... not like you were with our last game 'cause that shit was the tits but y'know, just saying. TO THE EXTREME." is how I remember it.

The number of people in the music downloading thread who are basically comfortable with large corporations using our civil court system to intimidate the populace by singling out individuals and "making examples of them" is unsettling. It's not surprising, but it is unsettling. Most people bitch about corporations extraordinary access to congress via paid lobbying, but they just shrug when said corporations use other branches of the government as a private police force to serve their interests, meanwhile you the citizen can't even get police attention if you have been robbed, unless you were physically injured in the process.

You can do mage stuff without a computer, just find a sharp ancient knife covered with runes and use it to slit a goat's throat beneath the harvest moon while invoking the call of the old ones.

If you can't find a goat, you can use a virgin. I'm sure there are plenty on these forums you can use. :D
