I know no Korean, I'm teaching English for a year or so... I've lived in China before (two years) and Japan (a month) so I'm not a complete idiot about Cultures Not Like Our Own, but, hey, any advice? I'm in Busan.

Thanks!

Busan is probably the best part of Korea, Seoul is alright too.

Actually not that many Koreans play SC. I would compare it to Halo in the states, everyone knows about it, a lot have played it, but very few play it competitively.

I lived in Yongsan for two years while I was in the military.

Advice: Go to Itaewon (right outside Yongsan). This is the "Americanized" portion of Seoul, South Korea's capital. This is a good stepping place as you venture into Korean food, language, culture, etc. Pound for pound, this is where the most Americans are (assuming you're one). This is also where you're most likely to find the largest collection of Koreans who are not only pro-American, but also perfectly used to introducing naive Americans into the wonders of their culture.

Osan is pretty good too, but I only liked it because it was a vacation from where I lived (Itaewon). Americans in Osan spend their weekends in Itaewon.

Anseong is my favorite...it's a huge arts area. Galleries, museums, public theatrical displays, wandering musicians...reminds me a lot of Greenwich Village.

    Hope that helps!

Funny, Americans in Osan spend their weekends in Itaewon. Americans in Kunsan spend their weekends in Osan.

    Kunsan fucking sucks.
