So this is much better than in GT4? Because I would get frustrated at times with the lack of a sense of speed playing GT4.

The mid speed cars, where you're doing 50-70 mph, don't feel very fast, but the ultra fast cars are incredible. Almost unnervingly fast, you feel like any movement at all will cause a crash. Just don't crash, the damage modeling is a joke as expected. If I crashed a Lamborgiini into a wall at 180mph it would turn into a blood filled cube, not just get a slight dent.

I think my favourite car so far is the Tesla. The sound when you get up to 100mph is all VOOOFFFSSSSSHHH.

there's a patch coming to unlock the 'real' damage in arcade mode apparently. it's a weird fucking system but it kind of makes sense - in gt mode you have to get to a-spec level 20 and then 40 for varying stages of car damage. the idea is that because you, you know, actually have to repair damage to your car, if it were introduced fully in the early part of the game you'd do it too often and run out of money. i'm kind of grateful. i don't want to write off my $100,000 investment in a souped up challenger from one wall-thud.

and yeah, the sense of speed depends on what you're driving. obviously a civic isn't going to feel like a lambo, but if you really want it to then you can always... drive a lambo

I played this in a friends room yesterday. Won 4/4 races against 2 different people, and I haven't played a GT game in like, 3 years.

I still need to get in the groove, though, else I woulda won 7/4. Fuck yes.

I used to hate that track, until GT Mobile's license tests included about 7 tests just for it, breaking it down into sections. Golding every part took weeks, but it was worth it.

God, we used to play the hell out of the old Gran Tourismo in college.

Our apartment was like a fucking warzone for that shit. The three of us had rules and classes.

Each of us had to have a:

200 hp
300 hp
400 hp
500 hp
Unlimited hp
500 hp rally

You could get as close as you wanted to that limit, but could not go over in that set class or it would be counted as the next class up. I dominated in the Rally, 200 and 300 classes.

Those were some great times.

Also watched the new american Top Gear... it's on the PS Store for free right now.. meh, not as good as the original, but had some good moments. Well produced at least.... Tanner Faust is fucking lifeless, and the other 2 are pretty doofy.. I dunno, I give it 2 seasons maybe... I mean how man cool american cars are there anyway? They covered the Viper already.. next week, Corvette ZR1... next week, Mustang GT500 Shelby Cobra Jet edition... then after that... SUVs and Minivans!!

I went for the "full" install version, first it said 20 minutes.. then it said 16 minutes..

and then it said 16 minutes


and now 20 minutes later it says... 16 minutes...

Yeah it said 9 minutes for about... 20 minutes and now it said 40 seconds for... about 10 minutes.. hmm not too accurate but I guess I might be able to play tonite before midnight..

Well finally after the installing and registering and installing and loading and installing and installing... I finally got to drive in a car! I did a few laps of Laguna Seca in the Shelby Cobra '66... lol that car is hard to drive and on a tough track too.... but reminded me again that I should buy a better wheel. I just have the original Logitech "Driving Force", with paddle shifters.. I figured out it's much better with the control set to "Simulation" anyway...

Then I bought a used Miata for $19k... that was a lot easier to drive heh. But um, why are race tires $36,000??? lol...guess I will beat up these street tires a while huh.

You can't upgrade or change anything on the car, apparently. I dunno the exact specifics, I just "shared" my car then tried to change tires and it said you can't do that while it's "shared".

Also I hate how rare decent classic cars are on the used cars market. My shitty SKYLINE 1500D ain't winning no cups no matter how much money I pump into upgrading it.

They seem to put you up against cars that are equiv. to yours. I had no problem winning the first 6 races or so by like... 30 seconds lol.. in the Miata.

Every single car on that track was faster than mine, I only barely made it to third place with some very cheap driving.

Then the next track had so much more straights that it was impossible.

My only problem is the bullshit AI drivers that will just bump you off your line and keep smashing into you from behind.. pretty much forever. Like if one T-boned you he would just keep his foot on the gas and push you all the way around the entire track sideways... lol

Remember in 1 and 2 when you could get the "Racing Upgrade" and all it did was give you decals

There are some very few ones, it's nothing like forza though.

You can buy new rims and new body parts on some cars.
