So I've actually seen some servers that threaten to ban you for "pod surfing".

What is pod surfing in BC2 you ask?
Walking behind a tank and repairing it.

    I am not joking.

Wow. I just assumed you were supposed to repair tanks. I guess that is exploiting game mechanics.

So it turns out we've all been exploiting games since, like, the very first game that had vehicle repairs, like 10 years ago? Who knew!

Where do they get the name "pod surfing" from anyway?

I thought pod surfing was taking a vehicle and switching between gunner locations, like going from tank driver to tank gunner, or chopper pilot to chopper gunner.

That's... that's not what pod surfing is. Like, at all.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zC0HLtc5AxQ

Pod surfing is a glitch that lets you stay in your drop pod (basically a parachute with thrusters that you get put in when launched from APCs or flying craft) almost infinitely. It is, at least to my knowledge, still unpatched from the day the game was released.

    Edit: Oh wait, BC2.

...What the fucking fuck? Those servers are dumb as hell.

google's first logical result for "pod surfing" "bad company 2" is to this thread. Everything else says it was in BF2142

Yeah, that's why I was surprised. I've never seen it used in BC2, on account of BC2... not having pods.

    Yeah, that's why I said I wasn't joking.

I want to strangle the guy in that server that coined it that way. I'm willing to bet he's never even played 2142.

Pod Surfing was in 2142. Manipulating the drop pods to move across the map real quick.

Some servers probably ran 2142 at some point, switched over to BC2, but didn't change one of the MOTD or Server plugin settings.

And yeah, pod surfing was one of the things that ruined 2142 for me. So many of the maps relied on the assaulting team having to stick to the ground, being able to surf from one side of the map to the other really ruined much of the experience.

That's what I thought, but then some people asked and one of the admins said it was repairing the tanks etc. I just played on that server, it's still there but I guess the admins will only enforce it if it means they're losing.

Edit: Also, I did the impossible, I did an awesome 9 kill streak with the M21 in Vietnam, it's just one of those moments everything clicks, medium range combat headshotting 3 dudes that are clumped together, then going on and keep on finding solitary dudes that obviously turn to attack me when I shoot them (Usually need 3 shots from the M21 for a kill) but keep on killing them. Combat excellence medal and 9 kills aw yeah fucking impossible gun.

Im terrible with sniper rifles. Im going for the all bronze thing, and Im really really dreading getting the bronzes with the sniper rifles. I tried some sniper today, and I ended up just killing a bunch of dudes with a pistol which I guess was also helpful since I need the bronze on that too.

Do I need to get bronzes on the grenade launchers and stuff too?

I had some fun even if I arrived late. I even got 15,000 points on the last map I played which is pretty crazy to me. It got me my last medic upgrade.

I'll have to spend the rest of the week screwing up Forbe's plans to C4 every ATV in a 3 mile radius.

Did they add the ability to put the ACOG on the M14 since July(ish)? I seem to remember it not being available for semi-auto non-class-specific weapons.

Can't get much more suicidal than not knowing when I'll disconnect while flying the chopper.

Is it possible to drop and detonate C4 from one of the passenger seats of a heli accurately? If so, is it also possible to drop an ammo box inside of the chopper and have it stay there? I'm imagining going on bombing runs.

Going around the enemy base in a stolen tank shooting every player and vehicle that spawns in before getting blown up as you attempt to fly away? Underdog stealth chopper thievery is more fun than Atacama itself, but when your team is already stomping, and you go around camping the base, it's much more of a dick move.

Satsu, apparently UPnP is already disabled. Maybe it's the cable router? Anyone know what the hell "TCP Checksum Offload" is?
