What the Frell is Going on Here!?!

So there has been a distinct lack of discussion about the greatest space opera brought to television on these here internet boards, so we are going to change that.

For those who don't know or may have been lost in the dark sectors of space, Farscape was an Australian/American space opera produced by the SciFi channel (back when it was good) which aired from 1999 to 2003 with a collective four seasons (88 episodes all together). To say Farscape was simply a space opera television show isn't quite fair as it happens to be the space opera show. To this date no show has been able to trump it in the stories, characters or designs as featured on the program. But you might be wondering, "If this is so awesome, what the frell is it?" Well, let us begin.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CtM6Mhkb08

That shows the three intros which dictate the adventures of John Crichton and the other crewmates on Moya.

The series was known for going areas that traditional, televised sci-fi had not gone before and in many distinct episodes developed an amazing level of emotional resonance with the audience. Not afraid to kill of main characters or subvert conventional ideas the show did a lot for the genre.

Also, let us not forget the best character of the entire series, Scorpius. A man so cunning and brilliant you realize that he is actually a better manipulator than even Benjamin Linus from Lost. Plus he has all that leather and well who doesn't want that...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOq0T980x8E&feature=related

With all of that said if you haven't seen the series I believe it is on Netflix instant streaming. In addition the entire series is under $60 and is well worth the price.

Let us discuss!!!

John Crichton is the best protaganist of any sci-fi show ever, mostly because he spends much of his time slowly going insane.
    Stargate was better.

This is an example of being wrong.

A friend from school is obsessed with this show. He bought the original blueprints for one of the ships for a few hundred dollars. From what he said it's the one that was born later on or something. I don't know the name!

    Talyn?

He was a great little badass who caused all sorts of trouble.
Bialar Crais and Talyn also got an epic death scene as well.

It also really improves as the seasons go by, so you should do that.

I bought the complete series set last year right after Christmas for about $100 I think and thought I got a good deal. It's down to like $70 on Amazon now and it was even less during Black Friday week. If you like sci-fi at all, you're really cheating yourself by not buying it at these prices. The first season they were still feeling their way a little, but everything after that is magnificent.

I like to use "frell" and "frelling" randomly on internet forums sometimes. Rarely does anybody recognize it. One person on PA has prior to this thread.

I had to get over the puppets at first, but this show is really great.
Characters that act out of believable motivations with consistency, but can change believably. This show has them.

From the first looks of the series, it was what put me off from watching it, for whatever reason. When I finally watched the series, I actually really liked them.

Probably because they wouldn't have been allowed to.

I don't know what the Australian TV rules on such things were/are.

The cancellation of the show was one of the reasons that I stopped watching TV.
