I am looking for 2 short stories that are supposed to be by William Faulkner, both are probably set in New Orleans and both might have a christmas theme.
One is about a shop owner who puts a jar full of pennies into his window so people guess the amount, a poor boy guesses the correct amount and uses the money to buy new teeth for his sister.
The second story is about a boy who has to visit his estranged father in New Orleans for christmas and is deeply dissappointed.
Hey! I don't know if you are still needing an answer to this or not but it is actually Truman Capote. The first story that you describe is called Jug of Silver and the second is One Christmas. A Christmas Memory is also really good!
