Levar Burton drank from a Troy and Ahbed in the Morning Mug IN FRONT OF HIM.
Probably what made him run off screaming!
Wow.
I am trying to sum up what I feel about this episode.
I can't put it into words.
I thought the show would never be able to capture that magic that was Modern Warfare again.
This did it.
It's not my favorite episode so far (top five for sure) but this episode just kept building and rolling and establishes that this season may get mixed reviews on this forum but damn it it's going to win us back like no other show can.
Sepinwall does point out that there's a growing why do these people even vaguely put up with Pierce problem that they need to solve at some point. But that it was a great episode.

Self-righteousness is incompatible with coalition building.
You don't have friends like that? that you really don't like but just kind'a "there"?
There's a difference between that and active malice.
Ok so I just read the anti-pierce review.
The writer goes on about digging a hole into continuity.
Let's look at what has happened: His mother died, his religious beliefs may have been completely compromised (no talk of the cult since that episode), he broke both legs, been increasingly left out of his only social group, got hooked on and od'd on painkillers, got the crap beat out of him by jeff.
I think they can easily start easing back to a kinder, softer pierce if they have to. The guy's got to be beat down soulless after everything that has happened - so he is lashing out.
He's the anti-jeff
Jeff keeps trying to push the group away and ends up getting closer.
Peirce keeps trying to pull the group closer and ends up pushing them away.

I agree with that comparison of Jeff and Pierce.
Pierce also knows Jeff's secret. He knows about the chair.
I'm a tad disappointed that Pierce's spiel on why he's so upset wasn't more dramatic. Thought there was something bigger going on with him, something related to his parents and, well, yeah. The episode was fantastic, no debating that. This show's never disappointed me, but I found that aspect of tonight's episode underwhelming. Everything else was top notch.
That was my biggest problem with the episodes (and it was really minor). I was expecting at least a little bit of catharsis, for Pierce to let loose a bit more of the anger he has bottled up.

Man, Levar Burton is awesome.
I think that Pierce found his catharsis the way he usually does things: by believing he's something he's not. In his mind, he now thinks of himself as a father figure to Jeff, so he has a place in the group now.
This season is kind of arcing like season 1 in terms of quality. If it keeps it up, we're at the tip of the iceberg in terms of amazing episodes on the way.
What's funny is this was a really strong Britta episode too - we haven't had one of those in a while. Last week's was just ok as a Britta episode despite the tease of the near kiss.

And Jeff delivers on his promise.
This was one hell of an episode.
Fuckin' Jordie, man.
They tried to bury us. They didn't know that we were seeds. 2018 Midterms. Get your shit together.

Laughed so hard.

Fantastic.
When Britta came into her bequething, was that a callback to her breakdown in the April Fool's episode?
"Knock knock? Who's there? CANCER! Oh, come in I thought it was BRITTA!"
compared to
"Knock knock!"
"Is that you Death?"
"No, it's Britta."
"Oh..."
That little back-and-forth there was like the perfect summation of Britta's character.
This was definitely one of my favorite episodes, although I wish Pierce had a "gift" for Abed too. Those two don't get to interact much.
