Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
Do you use more than one hardness of pencil, or is that all the same? Also, how do you keep from smudging anything at all? Do you use a glove? Or do you rest your hand on something...? Or maybe it's magic.
Also, how much digital "cleaning up" do you do, if any?
Mostly I'm just wondering how your dark lines are so crisply black, and how even though you most likely bumped up the white (and probably the darks too) a bit, there's still the very light midtones there. Do you ever go over the darker lines in Photoshop to really make them black (like the fur lining on the hood, for instance)?
I used two pencils. I think I did most of it with an H and then went back over the outlines with an HB to darken them up a bit.
I always have a piece of paper to rest my hand on when I work since I hold pencils right down at the tip and would totally have a big gray blob otherwise.
I didn't have to do too much clean up but I did adjust the levels to darken the darks and lighten the lights. That got rid of the slight smudging that was there.
If I recall the gingerbread man story, he was a real jerk. Let me look that up...
Edit: Okay, I guess I remembered that wrong. In every version of the story, he seems to get the short end of the stick.
Edit 2: 'Presently the gingerbread boy said, "Oh dear! I'm quarter gone!" And then, "Oh, I'm half gone!" And soon, "I'm three-quarters gone!" And at last, "I'm all gone!" and never spoke again.'
nah, how can a t-rex even capture a ginger bread man?
A T-Rex can't, but a Christmasaurus Rex can. Didn't you watch A Christmas Carol? Remember the Ghost of Christmas Future, Ghost of Christmas Present, Ghost of Christmas Past and the Ghost of Christmas Cretaceous?

Merry Christmas!
Also, I'm pretty sure someone else would have had to put that Santa hat on his head.
