in fact, don't watch it for the ass to ass part at all. because you'll probably be crying by then and it is in no way umm, exciting in the way that sounds like it might be.

Yeah, at this point in the movie, it's gotten so depressing that the "ass to ass" part is horrifying. But it really is a good culmination of what the movie has become for the characters.

oh sure, I think it's a great movie

I used to say 'I think it's good but I will probably never watch it again' but then it started to be on cable and I watched it a lot, and I've watched it a few times on disc. really very good.

    What is wrong with you?

Watch it, and then try not to kill yourself.

watch it and then watch blow.

seriously, why doesn't DARE force 5th graders to watch those 2 movies back to back? much less costly and more successful.

    yeah for real

blow for some reason hits me harder. it might be that in requiem you see what it's gonna be, and as much as they have 'a plan' and shit, the writing is on the wall from word one.

where as blow you actually feel positive at certain points. or at least I do. like he's a criminal but he's not that bad, and shit he's getting rich, and this is funny and beautiful people... and then...

edit - I say hits me harder but requiem is another level of dark. I just meant the contrast between the 'good' parts and the endings

    requiem will give you nightmares

blow builds you up and then throws you against a brick wall.

Requiem for a Dream always gets mentioned as the definitive soul-crushing movie, but I don't remember being that bummed after watching it

That was a long time ago, maybe I should view it again

Someone else brought up Blow which I do remember finding depressing as hell. Also an all-around good movie.

I was amazed by the "young" Jeff Bridges

The visuals were amazing and the music was awesome

The story and dialogue were lacking but it's not like the first Tron was going to win any awards for best script either

I played the Requiem for a Dream drinking game a couple times in college: Every time someone does a drug, take a drink.

One night, we did the hardcore version, and counted caffeine as a drug; do you have any idea how much coffee they drink in that movie?
