Hey, Washington people, what are your good colleges?

    UW is great.
WWU is great if for art or lit majors among other things
EWU is pretty good if you're on a budget.

Gonzaga has a fantastic law system, and Whitworth is pretty good if youre the religious sort.

I am a lit major, HOW CONVENIENT

Note that EWU is out in the shithole which is eastern washington. Shouldn't really count as the same state.

Also, WWU is a very nice campus but is in Bellingham which is a couple hours north of Seattle. Also, if you are going there you better have a full ride scholarship or something because you have to fight tooth and nail to get even a part time minimum wage job in that town.

What you think "makes sense" has nothing to do with reality. It just has to do with your life experience. And your life experience may only be a small smidgen of reality. Possibly even a distorted account of reality at that. So what this means is that, beginning in the 20th century as our means of decoding nature became more and more powerful, we started realizing our common sense is no longer a tool to pass judgment on whether or not a scientific theory is correct. - Neil Degrasse Tyson

EWU is 20 minutes outside of Spokane. You have a full size city, but yeah its not the greatest place.

Bellingham is somewhat small so the prospects for college students aren't great. Once you graduate its a great place to find a job though. Unemployment in Whatcom county is 7%.

    Nice.

    Man, am I fucking tired.

I am comforted by Richard Dawkins’ theory of memes. Those are mental units: thoughts, ideas, gestures, notions, songs, beliefs, rhymes, ideals, teachings, sayings, phrases, clichés that move from mind to mind as genes move from body to body. After a lifetime of writing, teaching, broadcasting and telling too many jokes, I will leave behind more memes than many. They will all also eventually die, but so it goes. - Roger Ebert, I Do Not Fear Death

    Things people forgot Reagan did:

-Pushed for Tax increases multiple times at the State and Federal level. The 1983 tax increase is still the largest in terms of GDP that we've ever had.
-Appointed O'Conner to the Supreme Court
-Pushed for and approved for an amnesty for 1.3 million illegals
-As Governor he pushed for one of the most liberal Abortion laws of the time. As President he did what he could to prevent challenges to Row v Wade
-As Governor he defended several nature preserves from development
-Bailed out Social Security, in the process taxed upper income SS benefits.

His political career tends to get a very black or white viewing but it's a lot more complicated.

No, its not. You don't want to start this fight.

Oh yes it does. I grew up among them. About 50% of the state lives in the Seattle / Eastside / Tacoma urbanish area. Most of the state (by area) is all The Hills Have Eyes.

But ... it is a lot more complicated. He did some very socially liberal things as governor. He was an ultra-pragmatist who did some very terrible and not-so-terrible things and justified them utilizing a worldview you do not share with him.

Yes it is. I don't like what the man did. I wouldn't want him in office again. I don't trust any official that came out of his administration. But the view of Reagan as a paragon of the radical Right is wrong.
