At least Summer Glau is back on TV, but I prefered her as a robot.
The problem is that show killed itself, bumpy opening episodes and some horrible side-tangents in the second season. What sucks is that TSCC had some of the most interesting characters of the series - John Henry and Derek Reese.
It also had some awesome singular ideas and moments : When they go after the little girl in the house and John Henry is leading her to safety and Derek gets shot point blank like that - that is great television. Summer Glau also worked really well as a "friendly" terminator and I loved the idea of humans hiding out on subs in the future.
The overall concept and high points of the series I love more then all the movies combined, however the low points were pretty low and spoiled it for me.
I actually quit watching all together in the early part of season 2 figuring it wouldn't make it to the end of the season. I think the sub episode was one of the ones I caught and I immediately kicked myself for not wading thru the crap to find the beautiful spots of the show.
Then you had Derek Reese showing that he places John ahead of anyone else.
I would say that what I have seen of The Cape I like. Mostly because its a superhero show that features superheroics. Heroes was all angst about their powers, at least the Cape has a goal and is activly working towards it. It can still fail thought.
And in show that lasted way to long: Smallville. If DC wasn't own by Warner Brothers, the Show made by Warner brothers television and brodcast on a network that used to be called The WB, it would have been canceled after 2-3 season. The only reason to watch is to see them mangle DC comics characters into tv-friendly versions. That and Green Arrow.

I heard it was a pretty good show and I saw that hulu has the first and only season.

That stupid Sarah centric hospital episode was awful and I actually stopped watching after that
Later when I caught the episodes on Hulu the last few were phenominal
Dollhouse was also rushed quite a bit and the twist definitely cast a shadow on the greatness of everything else (especially the mainframe or whatever they called the main computer "system" - that was amazing and had so much potential for further explanation).

I don't know if Angel was cancelled before it's time if you look at it this way: we could have dropped about a season's worth of filler episodes and a subplot or two during season four, push all of season five into season four, and then make the original plans for what was going to come after into season five. Angel's probably my second favorite show of all time after Galactica. There were so many badass moments through out all the seasons, but season five really, really hit the perfect combination of exploring incredibly dark themes, sacrificing sacred cows, and ridiculously-funny comedy bits.
Looking at Angel Inc. working for/running WR&H was a great "A-Hah!" moment, and I'm sure the writers were proud of coming up with this idea which fundamentally breathed new life into the series. Oh, but what's that? Spike's on the show and Angel might not be the only vampire with a soul that could save the world? Brilliant! Trading out Cordelia and that drama for werewolf lady and Harmony were a great trade in my opinion once we got past all the squicky Connor-Cordelia stuff.
As much as I wish there was another full season of the show, the last couple of episodes leading up to the finale were some of the best of the series. For a while Angel really looked like he went off the evil deep end, but when we get the turn, there's really nothing better on TV, and the plot they hatch to spit in the eye of the devil in a blaze of glory is very inventive in the way they pulled all the major characters - both good, grey, and bad - together to really stick it to the (network) big bad.
I haven't even touched on the character arc of Wesley Wyndam-Pryce. Although Galactica's my favorite show, Wes' my top TV character. This is especially astounding when you look at how terrible his character was in season 1 after we lost the ever-lovable Doyle.

Hopeless Gamer
The ending it has is great and given another season, I get feeling they would have fucked it up with the finale.
Hopeless Gamer
The issue isn't that change, it's the ending. Given the chance to set up an ending for the series, both Buffy and Dollhouse show them flubbing it and being kinda silly.
Meanwhile Angel (and S1 of Dollhouse, which they thought at the time was canceled and the finale of S5 of Buffy which was also sort of planned out under similar circumstances) deliver really powerful and dark endings.
Because of that (and the godawful "Season 6" Angel comic), I'd say if they'd have that extra season, the ending would have been poorer.
The one we got was pitch perfect, partly I think from evidence, because they were canceled and pissed about it.
someone needs to make a cape thread before it becomes on topic for this thread
it even has vinny jones and toby ziegler
i'm not sure what to make of it yet
yes Duck Dodgers was one awesome show:

Y'know, I feel it needs to be pointed out, the only reason the final season was so good was they knew they were getting cancelled, so the main people handed it off to another show runner, who just decided to cram in as much fanservice (of the nonsexual sort....well, ok, orion slave dancers...) as he could in the final season. Ironically it caused the audience that had hated on it for the last three seasons to mourn its passing. So, while it was getting better, it only GOT better in its death throes. Like a supernova or something.
haha pirate of dark water was a great show :^: and yes Korgoth never making it past the pilot was CRIMINAL
and yes I'll also say TSCC. I won't say it didn't deserve canceling--that slow slog in the middle of season two was awful--but damn did it get good in the last few episodes. If it had been like that the whole time I'd have been a lot more upset it was gone, and it might not have been canceled in the first place. I know they kinda lost me a bit in season two though I kept watching, no telling how many people stopped watching altogether.
I did not know that. Season 4 dude should have run the show the whole time.
TSCC makes me sad because it killed itself but it clearly also had some incredibly talented people working on the script and direction as well. Basically, they needed someone in the middle to keep them focused.
Ah well, what might have been.
Is that AKA Cromartie?
Because he is awesome as 'Burt' in Raising Hope.
And reading it's Wikipedia entry, I think it may have been canceled for the dumbest reason I've ever heard.

Thats just painful to hear let alone imagine what it must have been like to lose your job for not being enough like Dharma and Greg.
Watching Raising Hope was strange for a while, because every show I've ever seen him in, he played an Eastern European psychopath.
Redneck dad was a step outside his comfort zone, I'm sure!
If it costs more than $5 an episode its too expensive for adult swim
That's another reason to go find the Daybreak DVD set.
Because Adam Baldwin is pretty damned awesome.
I mentioned Titus!
Stacey Keach rules.
I thought the brother hit the rather difficult sweet spot of being a complete moron but still being funny and likable.

Zack Ward did a great job.

I love this clip because it's mostly just Titus and his dad being dicks to each other.
Particularly since, as someone who quite enjoyed Dharma and Greg, that 'splitting up' move pretty much killed that show as well.
Is it available on DVD? My wife and I loved the show when it was on the air. Sadly it is part of the Tim Minear Fox Cancelled Before Given a Chance collection.
I was really hoping he'd have better luck with FX and Terriers. At least it lasted a full season.
As far as I know it was never released on DVD and, sadly, doesn't look like it will be.
I loved the show starting with the clever teaser from the pilot. Especially since it was "21 Jump Street: The Next Generation" before Minear came on board. Boy did they change that concept.
Also want to know where Drive was heading. Actually, I can't think of a show Minear has been involved in that hasn't had an untimely death (although I couldn't get into Terriers).
Sadly, no. I had assumed it would so people could watch the unaired episodes, but they kind of dropped the ball. I'll buy them if they ever come out.
It still irks me that Fox never aired the two Drive episodes it promised it would after the show was cancelled. It was an interesting concept, had a good cast, I would have liked to see where the story went.
I remember before Dollhouse debuted, E! Online's website TV section was doing a Tim Minear interview and you could submit questions ahead of time. I sent one in asking why he keeps going back to Fox when they don't seem to give him a proper chance. Don't think it was picked to be used, though.
Man, those are the episodes that finally made me quit watching. I just kept waiting for the show to get good, like people here kept promising, but it never happened. There were fleeting moments of genius, but the whole show was just bogged down by substandard writing.
It's funny, because that style is just an attempt to make production cheaper. Less time drawing each frame, and all.
