Ride on Shooting Star to happiness.

This is going to sound kind of silly... the lyrics don't even make sense. But about 6 months ago I ran into a situation that really shook up my entire life and made me question whether anything I'd ever done was ever worth doing and whether anything I ever will do will amount to anything. I was listening to the SXSW music compilations (the ones you can find on over Torrent streams: legally!) on random, and suddenly this familiar song came on: The Pillows had submitted it to the collection, and I randomly happened upon it among the thousands of songs in there just when I needed it most!

This was a song from a wonderful anime called FlCl, and something about it drove me to keep going: to believe in myself, and to not give up. I can't explain it, because I had no clue what they were even saying: perhaps it was just the upbeat tone and that phrase "Ride on shooting star". It drove me on, became my mantra, became a foci for hope within me. Perhaps it was aided by having seen the anime, which I also recommend: in a lot of ways, the main character has the same personal hesitations that I was feeling - the same that it sounds like you may be feeling - and the story is about many things, but in particular about him gradually conquering those feelings.

This sounds terribly cheesy. But listen to it. This strange little song did me a world of good when I needed it most, and perhaps it will for you as well.
