Yeah, you're probably right. The fights have been much easier since I started investing in getting Supermoves, too. Aoto's Drill move is freaking aggressive and awesome.
Oh and like I said earlier in the thread if you want to switch to hard mode now's the time if you're in Phase 2. Phase 1 is just too difficult on hard your first run, but after that is okay and I stuck with it for the rest of the game.
Edit: Oh yeah, super special bonus tip for you. You may want to head back to Eternus Shaft and Ciela Gate and buy one or two of their weapons for Aoto. You'll be thankful you have them when you want to make a supermove and you actually have that crappy Crab Claw Sword to make the weapon required for the move.
Pfft, as if it matters, I'm getting Leaf up the ass. Anyway, I think it's time to grind for DP a little. From what it looks like, I'll need about 5k for Saki's level 3... and about 10-11k for Finnel's level 3... I think. Thankfully DP still goes to Reyvateils not in use.
The package is missing the advertised soundtrack, even though it states it includes in on the back of the box.
Really NISA?

edit: it might have been from other places too, but I did hear about that
Edit: Found the online replacement form. Still... it's annoying. And it'll probably take 3 weeks for me to get the soundtrack.

Anyway I got to Phase 4 today in playthrough 2 and the difference in scenes between Finnel and Saki before the end of Phase 3 is really huge. Don't read this if you're planning to do both characters, but if you aren't and you're already past that part then read on.
Now here's Finnel's scene. What a load of shit. All he does is make cries of pain on the ground and Finnel comes over to him. He tells her he'll protect her and blah blah blah through all the yells, and then somehow Finnel saves him. How? They don't say. She just gets power from a certain persona. Saki connected their souls together but Finnel just magically saves him. There's no real emotional involvement either like with Saki. He's just in pain. He doesn't let down the manly wall of videogame males that says they must never cry or show emotion ever. I just thought it really sucked.
I have yet to actually play any of Ar Tonelico, but today I discovered that a) the music is fucking amazing (namely Exec_CODEFLIPS) and b) they made up an entire language for this series which combines Sanskrit, Latin, and programming codes. Which is easily enough to sway myself in the direction of looking into maybe playing these games.
How critical would hunting down I and II be, or should I just LP those?
There's enough connection that it wouldn't be bad but 2 has a huge bug in it during the last boss so...I dunno. They tend to get a little spendy as well.
Plus they are really disturbing with the "insert your grathnode into me" stuff.
Fixed that for you. But yeah, the glitch is a bit of a pain, but its manageable and has tons of work-arounds. Plus, even though I haven't finished Qoga, I'd say Ar Tonelico 2 is definitely the best in the series, and worth playing first.
Craft a ton of those wind bombs that do 3,000 damage and spam them until you do 30,000 damage. The other is getting a ton of I.P.Ds for Replakia and just use your strongest Song Magic during Replakia.
I wish I could lime that smiley.
Mortal Sky, IMO the first game in the series is the best of the three, so I'd highly recommend playing it, as long as you don't mind somewhat dated graphics.
Also, NISA recently issued a reprint of it so you can get it fairly cheap, though it looks like NISA's sold out. Still only $30 on amazon, and it's worth that.
I enjoyed AT2, but it's overall not quite as good. The combat's better (and beating the third to last boss with the bug is really easy, you just use replakia in round 2) but everything else is a bit worse. It's still one of my favorite RPGs on the PS2, so it's worth a look.
I'm not sure what used prices for the games are these days, but I imagine they'd be kind of hard to find.
Edit: Third time's the charm it seems. I think it's a freeze related to the music changing after they use their move a few times. It seems like after 3 or 4 uses the music changes and then it usually froze. I basically had to build up a 500,000% charge to knock them out once I used all my supermoves. You need to use them to stop the charge and hope they don't do another one right after. If you can build up that much of a charge with your strongest persona with level 4 attack you should be able to knock them out.

Cloche's ending wasn't bad. I hated Luca though.
Also both normal endings in Phase 3 are shitty as hell. Because you don't fight the real boss they just use a different one that doesn't make any sense, it seems really rushed, and Finnel's ending is awful. Saki's actual ending is alright, but everything leading up to it is the same as Finnel's. So it's crap. The third's normal ending is okay, but it's kind of random. Like everything you've been doing up until that point just gets set on pause for a bit.
