I wouldn't recommend having someone else post an OP thread for you. I did that recently here, and it sucked because you can't update the OP, or change the title. When I make a thread I like to take care of it, and its tough lacking that sort of control even though you made the OP. Quite frustrating.

I wrote this whole OP up and then realized, "Hey! I'm jailed. I can't start any new threads".
I'll save this OP for MMA XV, but someone else will need to handle MMA XIIII.

Good lord, was that seriously a guy at 180 wanting to compete at 145? That's fucking crazy.

Well 180 isn't necessarily his fight weight. A lot of guys get bigger when they're not training for a fight, and lean down during their preparation for the actual cut.

be that as it may, he definitely did not look like he had 35lbs to lose without getting really emaciated
i can see why dana was really skeptical
its gotta be especially frustrating when you start a season and on the first day you have people on bikes with trashbags trying to cut weight which happens pretty much every other season
then again, theres the phil davis method...

Pretty much this. I like taking care of my baby. No insult intended, but all of you bitches would sodomize my genius OP.
It's no biggie. I'm sure someone has time to build something up from scratch in the next 36 hours before Fight Night starts. Heck, we've still got a few pages left...you can probably even put one up Sunday or Monday.

Dana was pissed at that guy for even wanting to make 145 it seems, why take such a huge cut that you can only do in your early 20's at a guess just to have a massive reach advantage?
Hell 6'2" is tall for 170, Hathaway is about that and he outreaches most guys he fights, he could at least make 155 and go that route but a guy that big in the 145 div is going to look like a circus fight.
This trend of putting fights on Facebook is bullshit and must be stopped.
I really kinda hope this is the fight that pushes Anthony Johnson up to Middleweight because I still like the dude and want him in a class he can consistently make, please.

Really? I'm all for it, and as Jared mentioned it may lead to all of the prelim fights being shown, which is awesome. I imagine the cost to them to broadcast it is extremely low.
Also, stop being a good husband and parent and participate on PA more.
Man I hang around but this thread moves so goddamn fast. I was going to talk about the last UFC (watched it at Hooters which definitely gets two thumbs up) but by the time I got here it was all over but the crying. I'm back at work now and perversely that means I'll have more internet time so I'll be around more.
Also I think this Phil Davis/Lil Nog fight is going to be sweet (cue B:L "Phil Davis is a boring wrestler who will just hold down the better striker abloo bloo")

A class he can consistently make... like Welterweight?
Also, Lil Nog looked horrible against Ryan Bader, who held him to a decision. I expect the same from Phil Davis, who probably won't be able to sub the experienced Lil Nog but can manhandle him.
Edit: True that, Willy. That was a clean hit and it turned Crocop into a sack of meat.
One which followed a series of not-so-clean hits.
I wouldn't mind a new UFC rule stating that fighters who cheat to the degree that it warrants a point deduction be ineligible for KO/Sub/Fight of the Night bonuses.
In fact, they ought to go further and implement a yellow/red card system to financially penalize cheating, rather than simply not rewarding it.

I guess I should have said "consistently and successfully" because even when he makes weight, and he has lately, he's not looked that great. I think, and have thought for a while, that he's just not good at this cut and that he could easily transition to middleweight and not have to worry about the cut. Hell he could put a bit more size on and still be one of the bigger guys in the division, he's a monster Welterweight.

Not looked good at this cut? Let's take a look at his recent record.
Tommy Speer KO'd.
Kevin Burns KO'd.
Luigi Fioravanti KO'd.
Yoshiyuki Yoshida KO'd.
Then he lost to bullshit cheating Koscheck, a great wrestler.
His problem isn't his weight, it's his ground game and takedown defense.

For the tl:dr crowd:
"Hoping to avoid a repeat of the debacle perpetrated by Gabe Ruediger on the fifth season of Spike TV's "The Ultimate Fighter," it was decided that Johnson (8-3) was too much of a liability to appear on the show on the chance he'd need to make 170 three times in six weeks, said Ken Pavia, the fighter's manager. So the talented, unrefined striker from outside Atlanta was instead signed to a UFC contract. It didn't take long for those concerns to become reality. For his second Octagon appearance, against Rich Clementi in September 2007, Johnson egregiously missed weight by 6½ pounds. Two years later, unable to shed 50 pounds in a matter of weeks, he came in at 176 for a fight with Yoshiyuki Yoshida."

I already offered, except I was totally going to take credit.

Fine, he's looked good and I hope he knocks Dan Hardy out convincingly so they set up Condit/Johnson and all of my crushes can fight together.

No, no, really... would I lie?
U mad.
Dan looked bigger than AJ at the weigh in. I smell a beat down like the one Swick got only this time Dan finishes.
