I want to believe the Tea Party is the last gasp of a vanishingly relevant generation (coupled with their vanishingly relevant branch of the media) and that if we just ride it out until our generation is in power everything will just settle down.
Unfortunately they're also endoctrinating a lot of young people with their bullshit and then I start realizing stuff like how the Tucson shooter is younger than I am and I just get depressed.

What does the tea party have to do with that shooting?

Well granted that guy's political background seems to have been kind of all over the place. I was commenting more about craziness in general.
I guess it's kind of unfair of me to expect craziness to only come from older people. Still depressed me though.

The Tea Party actually has some pretty valid complaints if you strip what they are saying down to the most basic level. A lot of them are just grossly misinformed or misguided. Not all them, though, but a vast majority.
What they are angry about, for the most part, isn't something petty. They genuinely see their lives getting worse and want it to change and want to blame someone for it.

So your claim is, holding a political opinion you don't agree with is the same as shooting a bunch of people in terms of the insanity-meter?
No, my claim is that there's an unhealthy climate of batshit going around, regardless of political affiliation. I want to believe it'll settle down but outlooks are pretty grim right now.
Unemployment, as measured by Gallup without seasonal adjustment, improved most between January 2010 and January 2011 among Americans with a high school education or less, or postgraduate education. A similar pattern is evident among the underemployed. In both cases, those with some college education fared worst.
People always shouting about the constitution being violated and not living in a democracy anymore seem to conveniently forget that this is a democratically elected government and that the polls show more people still approve of it than disapprove. Democracy doesn't mean you get your way personally. It means sometimes you lose. Take it in stride, keep your dignity.

They mention Fox News at some point, briefly.
Fox News: The best source for material to satirize.

That's a crazy rumor to spread. Michael Savage is not my hero, either.
