the way I see things is just fine, you fartsy little hedonists
I don't need your unique new lens or your carefully crafted skill
academic painters or modernists?
all the same waste of resources to me
Created in 1962 by Stan Lee and Jim Shooter, Batman is Image Comics' first openly gay superhero. And even though he's been somewhat reimagined from the half naked crusader of queer justice we once knew, there's no question that his flamboyance is still his greatest weapon.
Arkham Asylum is the latest in a long string of video games chronicling the adventures of the Dark Knight, and one of the few to actually be any good. Starring many of the voices of the 1978 animated series, it drastically differs itself from that show by not having a talking dune buggy.

OLD ART: SENTIMENTAL OVERWROUGHT BULLSHIT
MODERN ART: CRUDE SOPHISTRY
POSTMODERN ART: FUCK OFF
ok I'll stop now
what I like in videogames is the effective use of a unique looking aesthetic
to this end, I like cartoonier styles like Psychonauts or stuff like Okami, or even more abstract looking stuff like that one where you had to eat things to get bigger and bigger
the more realistic looking games I don't find as interesting visually
or at least, I don't find them as interesting as long

I agree to an extent
I also think realistic looking games have their place as art because they can kind of be more immersive, and I feel immersion is a major component of the artsyness of a game
But yeah the art direction was all over the fucking place. Even more so with all the other games. Like...is it industrial? Modern? People have cell phones now but before they had cars that looked like they ran on fucking coal?

not only that, they couldn't decide what the models looked like in the cutscenes
sometimes they'd be realistic looking and other times they'd be stumpy lego men
