    So I'm going to move the 5 o'clock viper to 3 o'clock.

The question is, should I go try to shoot a basestar, or should I park myself on the raider space so they shoot me instead of the battlestar?

I used my red card, and no one else draws reds, so I'd be a sitting duck against the raiders. I guess shooting the battlestar is a better choice.

Activate CAG to move 5 o'clock ship to 3 o'clock

Move to 9 o'clock and shoot the basestar

    Turn 2: Felix Gaeta (Darian)

Receive Skills Step: Darian draws 1 Politics, 1 Leadership, 2 Tactics, and 1 Engineering card.

Movement Step: Darian moves to Command.
Action Step: Darian plays Leadership 2 - Executive Order on Dracil.

Executive Order: Dracil moves to the fore (9 o'clock) of Galactica and uses his CAG action to move the unmanned Viper Mk. II in the port-quarter (5 o'clock) to aft (3 o'clock). He uses his bonus action to fire on the basestar.

    Attack Roll: 3, Miss.

Gaeta moves into position to help coordinate the Viper, giving Apollo the go-ahead to move out. The CAG orders a viper to watch over the civilians while he attempts to do damage to the enemy basestar without success. Meanwhile, Gaeta receives a message from a raptor ready to launch on a scheduled scouting mission...

    Crisis Step: Scouting for Fuel

Current Player Felix Gaeta (Darian) must choose:
    A) Skill Check [12] Tactics + Piloting
    Pass: +1 Fuel
Fail: -1 Fuel and destroy 1 Raptor
    OR
    B) Roll a die. If 4 or lower, -1 Fuel.

After Crisis: Activate Raiders, Advance Jump Preparation

Go figure we'd get this one before anyone has any cards. I can only help a little if we're going for this.

Unless Darien pulled some wicked tactics in his draw or someone is going to blow a once-per-game, I think going for the roll is probably our best chance.

I didn't; Option B and I'll apply Strategic Planning (strength 4) to the roll.

Fail: -1 Fuel and destroy 1 Raptor

    B) Roll a die. If 4 or lower, -1 Fuel.

Darian chooses option B, playing Tactics 4 - Strategic Planning to aid the roll.

    Risk roll: 7+2 = 9, no effect.

Gaeta decides that the time is not right for a scouting run, deciding the fleet needs to work with the resources it has for the time being.

After Crisis: Activate Raiders, Advance Jump Preparation
    Raiders advance from the starboard-bow (11 o'clock) to the starboard-quarter (1 o'clock).
Jump Preparation advances to Level 2 - Jump still unavailable.

Turn 3: Anastasia "Dee" Dualla (Stiles)

Receive Skills Step: Stiles draws 1 Leadership, 3 Tactics, and 1 Engineering card.

So....I have a lot of options open right now and would like to know what people think. I could...

-Activate communications and move the civilians.
-Have command be activated and escort the civilians to safety/launch a viper and move it over for additional protection.
    -See where we're headed.
-Go say hi to Kara and see if I can't see what I can do in the Hangar.
-Go say hi to that Basestar.

What do you think? I'm thinking Kara could help with getting those civs out of danger, but if she's been drinking again and my crisis activates raiders we could be in for some trouble, what with only one viper being there.

    edited February 2011
Either escorting or sending another viper is probably best. On my turn, if they activated, I get one free shot via CAG.

  • DracilDracil Registered User regular
    edited February 2011
Actually, talking to Kara may not be so bad, since you could repair some Mk Viis.

  • PlutoniumPlutonium Registered User regular
    edited February 2011
Talk to Kara, and see what happens. If it works out, get some more vipers over there and escort one of the civvies off, and kick me an xo. If it doesn't, send one to Gaeta to activate command.

    edited February 2011
If Kara works out, wouldn't it be better to just send that viper over and blow the raiders up?

  • PlutoniumPlutonium Registered User regular
    edited February 2011
That could work too. If Kara helps, chances are we get most of them. If she doesn't, Gaeta can get xo'd and immediately take 4 shots.

    Sounds like a plan.

Move to Hangar Deck, encounter Kara Thrace.

Turn 3: Anastasia "Dee" Dualla (Stiles)

Movement Step: Stiles moves to the Hangar Deck.
Ally Resolution: Stiles resolves ally Kara "Starbuck" Thrace, flipping over her Trauma token. The result is Antagonistic. Raiders are activated, advancing from the starboard-quarter ( 1 o'clock) to aft (3 o'clock). The next ally card is revealed, Saul Tigh.
    Spoiler:

Stiles will need to place a trauma token from his personal supply to Tigh, and then we can move on to the action step.

Play 2 Leadership - Executive Order on Felix Gaeta (Darian) with the suggestion of escorting the civilians away.

Activate Command. Order the aft viper to escort both civilians to safety.

Activate Command again; order the aft viper to open fire on enemy raiders twice.

Not sure I like Saul looming over my shoulder here, but I'll do what must be done.

Turn 3: Anastasia "Dee" Dualla (Stiles)

Ally Resolution: Stiles places a Trauma token from his supply face down to Saul Tigh's card.
Action: Stiles plays Leadership 2 - Executive Order on Darian.

Executive Order: Darian activates Command to use the aft (3 o'clock) viper to escort both civilian ships to safety. He activates the location again to use the same viper to fire on the Raiders in his zone.

    Attack Roll 1: 1, Miss.
    Attack Roll 2: 6, Hit.

Dualla makes a visit to the Hangar Deck to see if she can provide some support. She learns that Starbuck's been out in space trying to help support the fleet, but it appears that all she's doing is riling the enemy up. Dualla opens a line of communication to Gaeta in command to rein Starbuck's actions in, and countermeasures against the Cylons are taken. Meanwhile, Saul Tigh reviews the situation and puts in a suggestion to the admiral...

    Crisis Step: Declare Martial Law

Admiral Helena Cain (Professor Phobos) must choose:
    A) -1 Morale, and Admiral Helena Cain (Professor Phobos) receives the President title.
    OR
    B) -1 Population, and Admiral Helena Cain (Professor Phobos) discards 2 Skill Cards.

    After Crisis: Activate Basestars

Stiles, I will need to know what battlestar will be damaged, should the basestar attack hit.

Concentrating power just like that, especially when I'm in the president's office able to use it, all because you don't want to discard 2 skill cards?

    Sounds a bit cylony.

We have a lot more population than morale, too.

Activate CAG to order 3 o'clock viper to shoot a raider.

So I have an XO. Any ideas who I should use it on? I could let Gaeta shoot down that last raider, then maybe get that 7 o'clock viper over here to concentrate fire on the basestar.

  • DarianDarian Registered User regular
    edited February 2011
I'd gladly take the XO to try to clean up the raiders, or you could toss an XO at our newly appointed dictator, give her three actions in a row to take out the basestar. Dangerous if she's a Cylon, but she hasn't had a chance to prove herself either way, yet. (Other than grabbing power to avoid the loss of skill cards, of course.)

Turn 4: CAG Lee "Apollo" Adama (Dracil)

Movement Step: Dracil remains in the fore (9 o'clock) location.
Action Step: Dracil uses his CAG Action to activate the aft (3 o'clock) location, firing on a Raider there.

    Attack Roll: 8, Hit.

    Dracil's bonus action to follow.

Well, I'm in the hangar, and could make use of an xo, but it's not really pressing. Otherwise send one to Cain to open fire on the basestar I'd think.

Well I can't really do much besides contribute to skill checks now. Would it be worth it to activate administration ?

  • DracilDracil Registered User regular
    edited February 2011
Assuming Cain destroys the basestar in one hit, do you have any action cards left you can play? Otherwise I'll probably just go with Gaeta.

  • DracilDracil Registered User regular
    edited February 2011
Actually I think I'll just XO(1) Gaeta to activate vipers. It's Cain's turn next anyway, and if she is a Cylon, 3 actions is just too dangerous.

Edit: I do think it's worth it to activate adminstration on your turn maybe (since it only takes 3 for you to pass), but not worth using an XO's double action on. I *think* it's less efficient for the same person to be both admiral and president (can't nuke and use quorum at the same time for example).

  • PlutoniumPlutonium Registered User regular
    edited February 2011
Yeah, but it's still kind of shitty because it takes another turn after that, or a half-ass XO to move to the president's office. That, or someone else activates administration. Also, Zarek can mess with the difficulty of any administration or brig checks, not just the ones he initiates.

Anyways, one person making both the President and Admiral choices is pretty dangerous stuff. I think it was sort of fishy that Phobos immediately decided to take both titles without consulting the rest of us.

I agree, we're going to have to waste a turn plus cards to get the presidency back, all for just one population. I'm not sure I trust the good admiral.

Turn 4: CAG Lee "Apollo" Adama (Dracil)

Action Step: Dracil plays Leadership 1 - Executive Order on Darian.

Executive Order: Darian activates Command, ordering the aft (3 o'clock) viper to fire on the last Raider in the area.

    Attack Roll: 7, Hit.

Second Command activation to follow, with second action to come afterwards.
