All right Rysk, I've got about 25 zkeys; what's a fair ratio of trade for zkeys to rubies/sapphires? 3:2 seems to follow market value, if one assumes a zkey is 6k and a ruby is 9k.

In other news, I actually have 3 duplicate minis I'd be quite willing to trade for anyone else's duplicates: a Fire Imp, Fungal Wallow, and Raptor. I'll try to get a list of what minis I already have shortly, but let me know if any of those 3 are useful to anyone.

That seems fair, assuming the market value for them is 9k per.

I should be around again tonight, but I'm holding off on buying any more zkeys for right now because of the huge bonus this week with faction. I can net myself about 2 amber and 1 zkey per FA match, so it will depend how many keys I can squeeze out as to how many I will need to buy.

Yeah, that's an option too. If it's okay, I'll wait till tonight to see if anyone here has a trade as that would prevent me from having to haunt trade chat, but if not, I'll sell it to you for uber-cheap. People in the guild have been extremely helpful and generous with me, and I'd like to pay it forward.

So I'm surprised, decided to dust off my Dervish and work on the Nightfall campaign yesterday.

Nine hours later, went somewhere from level 9 to 20, and made it to the mainland and the Refuge. (Which, apparently, takes it's entire color cues from the Badlands.)

Still, though, the "surprised" bit was to how good the Nightfall campaign is. Easily my favorite so far, probably due to the lack of bullshit. Seems to be tuned a lot better.

So just to confirm, Rysk: you don't need to buy/trade for any zkeys, correct? You're gonna round em all up yourself? That's a-ok by me, I just want to make sure before I hit the streets of Kamadan and start spamming. :P

Man, you know what my BIGGEST concern is, re: hitting 30 HoM points? Diablo 3. Hoo boy. That's gonna be one hell of a balancing act.

I will probably end up having to buy SOME amount of keys, but for right this very second I was able to get about 13 keys in 2 hours of PvP last night. I can repeat that over the weekend and hopefully dwindle my needs down to next to nothing. With luck I will just be needing a handful of keys and buying all diamonds and minis.

If you need Sapphires/Rubies I think I will go ahead and trade those for keys (since I want none of them). Let's see if we can make a deal tonight should you be around.

    I'll be around, yeah.

If you'd rather just stock up on money for your own needs, I can flat out pay you for the gems instead, and sell my zkeys wherever. Just another option. :)

questions (finally making headway in the campaigns):

    1) are all inscriptions worth attempting to harvest from items? or are there specific ones I should look for and sell the rest?
is there an inscription vendor like the runes or materials?

    2) any chance I can get an invite to the guild? (toon: Stalefish Deux)

up to 29/50 finally, just need one more point, from a title or green mini.

@greebzilla for inscriptions, they aren't worth that much for the effort you'd go through to sell them. most of the wanted ones are 1-3k, with 20% HCT i think is 4-6k. ones to keep if you intend to are Strength of honor and I have the power for weapons, and any +10 ar vs damage type for offhand/shield. also, don't really bother with non-max unless you're going to use them. the best way to sell them if you are keeping them is to use the gwguru forums.

edit: if anyone is collecting i have 3 rubies and an unded shard wolf (yr 5) that i'll sell for cheap. i think that's all i have that would be of any HoM use right now since i've been using it for my own.

7th year presents are just the 1-5th year minipets but without any of the commons (whites). Purples and up only.

I suppose you could buy the unopened present, but you could also just buy one of the 1-5th year pets for cheaper.

Kinda not sure what I have to do now that I've finished Nightfall...working on getting Master reward in all missions for the title? Doing EotN stuff? Doing left-over/new missions in Vabbi/Torment to unlock 2nd Ritualist hero and get more Trade Contracts? Vanquish zones to grind out rep with Sunspears? (only 40k to go x_x)

Also, this whole "lets do end-game together" thing is kind of falling flat, because I have no idea how to find the entrance to any of it and wouldn't know how to lead anyone else to a place I've never been to myself. Also, I'm on GMT+2 :?

To get into Fissure of Woe or Underworld you can use a scroll of passage or you have to go to Temple of Ages (Tyria) or Zin Ku Corridor (Cantha) or Chantry of Secrets(Elona) and kneel on either Balthazar's statue or Grenth's AND pay 1 platinum.

For Domain of Anguish, talk to the Seer of Truth in the Chantry of Secrets and she'll port you to the Gate of Anguish (after that you can just travel from the Realm of Torment).

For The Deep, i think you need to go to Cavalon ... not sure, never been there :s

For Urgoz's Warren, you need to go to House zu Heltzer.

And then you have Slaver's Exile in EOTN.

  • BethrynBethryn Registered User regular
I think The Deep/Urgoz' Warren can be started from Embark Beach with Passage Scrolls. No idea how you get 12 in the party though.

    My recommendations would be:
    1) Do PvP until you have the skills for the 7 hero support build, if you haven't already
    2) Get the remaining master rewards for Nightfall

But then after that, it's whatever you want. Doing at least some EotN stuff could be helpful; you get a lot of cool and useful skills, plus another ritualist hero. If you're aiming to get gems, getting the trade contracts is something you'd want to do eventually. Vanquishing zones is maybe the best thing you could do while this event is still active, ASSUMING the Sunspear title is part of your HoM plan.

Due to that same event, pvp'ing for zkeys that you then sell for money is also a good way to go, since as you've already seen, you're gonna need lots for HoM!

Out of curiosity for the balthazar faction stuff, abilities you unlock with points... do they stick for PvE characters, or is it only for PvP :<?

  • BethrynBethryn Registered User regular
If you unlock a skill with Balthazar faction, it's immediately useable on any PvP character on your account. It's considered 'unlocked' for your account, which means that a PvE character with a (Elite) [class] Tome (e.g. Elite Warrior Tome for an elite warrior skill, or just a normal Warrior Tome for a normal warrior skill) can use that to have it available for their own use.

Tomes tend to be massively more expensive to buy than just going out skill-hunting though.

Also terribly tempted to try to get my Warrior to 20 and do the campaign stuff on him instead. He's holding my interest better than my Ritualist at the moment, not sure why.

Interesting, I've been using the 7 hero support (http://pvx.wikia.com/wiki/Build:Team_-_7_Hero_Player_Support).

How do the two compare, any thoughts?

  • Kai_SanKai_San Registered User regular
Well they are both made by the same guy.

He updated 7H support with this. The goal was more offense. But he added in the rit line of spells on the player to all spirit dropping before the pull. This means no one relevant takes damage, and allowed him to remove a shitton of the survival.

However before hardmode (or some of the harder normal missions like right before abbadon in NF) you dont even need the spiritline. Just run in and everything melts.

Also its noted that any profession can be the rit too. It helps if you arent a warrior/paragon with 2 energy pips, but its still possible.

Also of note, you do not need all the equipment he lists. It makes the build better, but it still functions before it. However if you are building the team for some late/ post HOM challenges the equipment is there to be able to 7 hero almost anything in the GAME. But he averaged the cost to get them equipped like that at roughly 500k.

Bare min though you at least need to rune up their armor for ability points. But that costs a few play.

7PS is great for any player character because of its focus on defense and survivability. The build @Kai_San linked (SotHway?) drops a bit of defense in favour of more offense, and requires a Rt player character, or at least a player character which can run a Rt SoS build competently. It needs a little more thought than 7PS, but it clears HM areas probably twice as fast.

I am basically down to Vabbian armor for my final 2 points in HoM and I think I'm going to farm dungeons for the rubies/sapphires/cash as dungeon crawling has generally been my most fun experience in GW1. Anyone have any suggestions as to which dungeons are the easiest/most fun/produce the most hidden treasures? I'm looking at Frostmaw's Burrow right now as the likely leader but I haven't found any info comparing the relative difficulty of the various dungeons vs. their rewards.

It doesnt quite require it. And it only needs rt skills. You dont have to be rt primary. My dervish does it just fine.
And for non hardmode stuff you can still run it and see improvement. Especially if you are melee. They will keep you up.
