Bad convo with doc scratch
If he is immortal then why would he be serious about trying to kill himself. should say functionally immortal.

A magician gives you a ring that, when worn, will let you see the world as it truly is.
However, the ring will never leave your finger, and you will be unable to ever describe to another living person what you see.
Yeah I'm sure the badguys will get all sorts of come up'd. I just sort of liked it way back when it seemed like the kids and the trolls basically caused their worst problems due to their own screw ups. Jack killing the Queen and starting the reckoning early being the kids fault, the trolls going all Lord of the Flies on each other, etc. Now it seems like you can just blame everything on them being manipulated, from what Aradia was saying.
Then again it's already all weird with predestination stuff so whatever.
If you think of it in thematic terms, nothing has actually changed
Doc Scratch/Lord English are just representatives of the real enemy, which is the characters' fates and/or their flaws, which are obviously tied together closely. The kids and trolls make mistakes and do bad things because of their character flaws, which dooms them to a shitty future. Doc Scratch is just a facilitator.
I mean, we've already seen his manipulation at work with Vriska. All he does is goad you into doing the terrible things that you really really want to do deep down, even though you know you shouldn't. The fault still lies entirely with the person being manipulated; if they were of stronger character, his methods would fail.
Doc Scratch is only there because the style of the story sort of demands we have an actual antagonist for a villain, for the promise of cool RPG-style fights in the future.
That's actually something I've thought of recently. Considering that this is supposed to be an RPG we actually haven't seen all that much combat. There were the initial strife pages, some imp-wailing, and Bro and Davesprite vs. Jack. Have there been any other battles involving the kids? Even with the trolls there hasn't been all that much fighting, and a lot of it's just been one-sided wailings. I mean, compare it to problem sleuth, where the comic was a fucking bloodbath that the main characters were in the center of almost constantly. It's like we're constantly setting up for cool battles to take place, but we've actually barely seen any fighting.
PS is more like an actual game. Every twist and turn of the boss battle and every attempt to solve the puzzles gets shown in depth and detail.
Homestuck is more about the characters journey. All the grinding happens offscreen.

Yes! it is pretty good. I haven't seen it for quite a while though. I haven't seen fargo for about a decade, either.
I need to do a Coen brothers marathon.
I kicked ass as Rabbit in multi.
Kicked. Straight. Ass. I totally defeated my friend playing one of those super end-game magic dragon things playing Rabbit.
[beep boop what was here who knows]
