And chat is awful at it. The sheer number of alcohol snobs we have is silly. From my perspective it's spending a lot of money to engage in what usually a very bad idea. And getting drunk consistently is a rather degenerate behavior. The idea that people take great pride how they get to that state astounds me.

I haven't really seen that in the book thread at all, honestly.

Discussion of general fantasy novels. Some series can get away with it, but I dare you to write a post saying R.A. Salvatore is okay. Which is a shame because he's a nice guy who knows he isn't a literary master and just wants to take care of his family.

I don't think anyone says RA Salvatore books are for bad people - I've seen people say they're bad books, which is altogether different.

It's not a daily thing but yeah there have been a couple times. An example:
My pristine, unblemished, glossy trade paperback copy of Blade of Tyshalle is sitting atop the printer on my desk right now. It has a Chapters sticker on the front, advertising, in French and English, "Prix Reg./Orig. Price $24.00 SEULEMENT ONLY $6.99." Below that is a second price tag, a standard bright orange gun-applied one, marked "$3.99+tx". The stickers would be easy to remove, but I've chosen to leave them on for the unique combination of happiness and rage I feel whenever I look at them. Happiness, because it's such a fantastic book, and paying $4 new for it was an absolute steal; rage, because goddamnit you emo Twilight-reading motherfuckers, you chubby grasping adolescent Sword of Truth fans, you mindless consumers of R.A. Salvatore and the fucking Halo novelizations, your terrible fucking taste in literature pumps money into the gaping maws of millionaire Mormon housewives and college dropouts with a hardon for Objectivism, while guys like this - seriously, read that interview - can't even get their work republished because there's not enough perceived demand to justify a 5000 copy print run.

    I have read the interviews.

    That is certainly a post.

    What I see sees me.

I can't really speak to that as I've never played the PC version of either game - but what they have done is (I think) to make the 360 one work better as a 360 game. Your button presses have a lot more immediacy and oomph to them, kind of like playing a brawler (although it's still very much an RPG).

Uncharted, Batman or Red Dead Redemption, definitely. I haven't played either Uncharted but I hear they're swell - but of the second two, Batman I enjoyed more but is also a much shorter, more straightforward game. RDR is brilliant but huge, genuinely huge - I guess whether that's good or bad depends on how much free time you have and how many games you are dying to play.

About the alcohol, we have heavy drinkers here (no surprise given that we have so many overworked college students, depressed people and so forth) and alcohol snobs/hobbyists/whatever here, but I don't think the two groups hugely overlap.

No, I was hoping to try out ME1 on Steam first.

My last two games before AC Bro was Sands of Time and God of War, so I'll put those franchises to one side and play either RDR or AA. Portal 2 remains my wild card, in that it will jump to the front of the queue as soon as I acquire it.

Jesus Christ people are stupid. Nearly 20,000 users on Facebook accepted an invite to a "Gas Strike". Here's what it is:
OKAY! WE HAVE HAD ENOUGH!!! Gas Strike March 10th! This worked once before...let's try it again. On March 10 if everyone does not buy gas for one day, it will hurt the oil companies. It's time we stood up to them. We CAN have a voice...REMEMBER "MARCH" 10th DO NOT BUY GAS! Please repost this to as many people as you can...it is urgent that this spreads like wildfire!!

And WE all need to cut back on how much gas we use everyday. And do not fill the day before or the day after just bescause you are not going to buy it on the 10th

    My post on that event:
This worked once before? When? Where's the proof?

Seriously, you're not hurting anyone by doing this. The oil companies themselves lose no money in this. They distribute it to the gas stations, who then in turn pay them. They then sell it to you, the consumer, at a price to make a profit based on what they purchased the gas at. BP, Exx...on, Chevron, etc already have their money. If this does actually reduce the price of gas, it does it at the expense of the gas station. If anything, this probably actually RAISES the price of gas. A gas station pays BP 2 bucks a gallon for gas one day and then sets the price to 2.50 a gallon to the consumer. A day goes by and it sells NO GAS it actually lost money for that day. So the next day, in order to compensate for it's loss, the gas station raises gas prices to 3.00 a gallon.

I will be filling my tank up today.

Just over 7,000 people said they are "not attending".

But nearly 20,000 on Facebook are like sheep to a fucking slaughter. My prewife included... Ugh, I gotta teach that girl so much.

Sorry, I'm tired, stressed and dealing with some shit. The bolded statement just comes out of a general vibe of late that "Gamers are freaks" and the general judgmental shit gets on my nerves since it's generally followed by hypocrisy. Which is normal for humans but it's the point where I start making judgments myself about people who can't maintain polite behavior, and a fool who opens his mouth.

As to the later point, I think that if I drew a venn diagram of it, there would be a bigger overlap then you'd think. But I'm not going to discuss it in detail here.
