You know if it takes an 8.9 earth quake and a fucking tsunami to almost not really melt down a nuclear reactor that is as old as my parents then I think that qualifies as a pretty safe form of energy.

Nope, they're bombs and we're all doomed if we build even one more.

9.0 earthquake actually. Now where most of our plants are this isn't a major danger. Especially the Tsunami part. Our major faults are inland which makes them causing tsunamis rare to non-existent. Now some of ours are in tornado alley in the midwest. Not sure what design you do to stop a tornado from destroying a reactor and causing a meltdown. But it is pretty low chance of it happenings. Though the Japanese plants were designed for 7.0 minimum standards and not sure if ours are.

If you are going to go after nuke plants go after the byproducts they produce. The waste material is hard to store safely and doesn't degrade quickly. We have gotten better at using this with new reactors but it is still produced.

    "No new nuclear reactors!"
"How about replacing these old designs with newer ones that don't meltd--"
"I SAID, NO NEW NUCLEAR REACTORS!"

in fairness this last bit is the only thing i really have a problem with re: nuclear power plants

I have a problem with that and the damage uranium mining causes. We have some huge ones in Western Colorado. The areas become pretty uninhabitable. I mean not quiet like Rocky Mountain Arsenal but still pretty bad.

Hey if they want to use this as a lesson the importance of making sure these things are disaster proof then thats great.

Germany is cycling through their reactors to make sure they're going to be stable in such an event and that's a pretty responsible thing to do.

But I'm gonna stab somebody the next time i hear someone say this is proof of how dangerous they are.

Probably just end up hurting myself though on these flu meds

Talking about monkeys and apes, we watched "Blood Monkey" on Netflix the other night thinking it would be a decent drunk movie.

But literally nothing happened (and people still managed to die).

And then it turned out to be a gorilla, even though it was supposed to be a chimp.

Normally I don't mind some of the liberal radio host that are on in the house most of the time. Sometimes I agree with them. But man every time they turn on their doom switch or start getting into international relations areas I want to shut them up with duct tape. Though whats funny Ed Schultz(ugh him on Egypt made my ears bleed) has been instead focusing on unions and Wisconsin and I applaud him for it. Since that is gods damn important as well.

Yeah. You can buy more energy with cash or in-game with crowns, but it's player-financed. I think the going rate yesterday was 5k crowns for 100 energy.

And your standard 100 energy regens, but it's really super slow.

Eh some of the liberal radio shows aren't bad. Stephanie Miller is pretty great and Thom Harttman is as well.

Don't care for Shultz, he's too bombastic and doesn't really seem to know what he's talking about on international issues, though he is decent on domestic stuff.

    Randy Rhodes is just terrible.

Harttman is on in this house everyday. I get annoyed at him because he tends to distill sometimes to much for his own purposes on International Issues. Realize I majored in this and this fall I am starting my masters in it. So it is kind of my thing. We have a local David Sirota who can be excellent and can be fucking awful. Another local guy, Mario Solis-Marich is great though. He sticks to mostly local stuff and is just awesome to listen to.

We tend to have Lawrence O'Donnell on in the evenings after the NBC Nightly News. And depending on the day we have Rachel Maddow(<3) on as well. I don't always agree with them but they do make good points. That and O'Donnell was amazing during the Wisconsin thing.

My dad has an artificial leg. The prothetic place keeps trying to get him to come back so they can put the cover over the titanium frame but he doesn't want it because:

    1.) It costs $$$$
