Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it,
follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given
their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
Just another Friday nite at the [chat]house

It will be tomorrow. I'm pre-planning.
Oathkeeper - Updates Monday/Wednesday/Friday
Buy Issue One! >< Two! >< Three!
NEW! >< Four!
He started off saying, "B as in Frank"
O_o
Man what? 4 was the best of the series by far.
You can't take a combat system designed and balanced for a tabletop game where you roll dice to determine hits / misses and replace that with an entirely skill based system and expect it to work well.
Mechwarrior 2 had an excellent storyline but the construction / combat in 2 and 3 were pretty silly.
Crescent Hawk's Inception was better. But if I remember correctly, Mechwarrior was the first game that had in cockpit piloting.
I will knock you out and give you papercuts on the inside of your anus dude.
Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries was the only one I played. That was fun.
I never made it past the mission where you had to run guard duty on a giant block of ice in space being shipped to a planet with a water shortage. The catch was that you couldn't use jump jets without hurling yourself into the great beyond, and I'd always forget after a couple of minutes because all the missions up til that one took place on terra firma so using it was almost like a reflex at that point.

Actual Play: Mage: the Awakening - At the Edge of All Things
YOU DO NOT PUT BOWS AND ARROWS IN MY FUCKING MECH GAME ASSHOLES THIS IS NOT JAPAN!
After the interview and hiring period, I sent a thank you letter and a request for areas to improve on for future opportunities. No reply. But things over there are horribly understaffed, if DDI is any indication, so they may not have the time to say "work on this some and try back again next time."
As for Essentials selling, I'll take your word on it, but it's created a huge amount of dissent in the community.
They are working on one. One of the original creators of the Battletech board game bought the IP from Microsoft after they stopped making former-FASA based games.
Piranha Games is developing it. And it's set in 3015! 3rd Succession war classic era huzah!
It's likely to be terrible.
Shelkin Brownie is going to be reprinted in Magic 2012.
Trufax.
How so? They don't have a release date yet and are pretty early on in dev but the video / screens show so far look damn good.
No, 4 was great, as far as I'm concerned they got better each game. What I was referring to was the way the franchise was just sort of dumped. Not exactly what happened to C&C but close enough.
Hahaha yessss
oh. Ooooh. Ok I get it. I thought you were saying it went off the rails into further lame-ness with each sequel like C&C.
I have no optimism. I am always dissapointed.
I never used jump jets. I understand their mobility advantage and if I was more interested in light or medium mech piloting I might use them more, but the big issue is that using them full out makes you a target without any cover moving in a predictable path. So you have to use much shorter, lower altitude hops with them.
Woo! No filthy clanners. Must get my hands on an Atlas.
I hope the treetment for this isn't too expensive.
I'm not sure they know the root cause of the condition yet.
The problem with C&C is EA took this great universe and storyline and then wrapped it up with the greatest piece of shit ever conceived. To conclude a series like C&C with the abomination that was Tiberium Twilight is a sin that can only be forgiven through blood sacrifice.
It's free in Canada, but in the US you'd better make six figures.
I remember enjoying that show.
And good evening.
I could have sworn that Mechwarrior was getting a reboot or being picked up again. There was a teaser trailer for a Mechwarrior game that came out like a year ago iirc...
I'm almost always nauseous, or at least not-hungry, after waking up and so usually can't eat breakfast. Them come 10-11 AM I am really frikken hungry. But by now I might as well just wait for lunch.
I seem to remember someone had a made a full on mechwarrior mod for the crysis engine that looked very promising.
But using them to get up on a mountain ridge where you could rain rockety death on your enemies? Yes please.
Esh?
That guy freaks me the fuck out. Who the hell would choose to be a "regular" in any H/A style setting?
It is, but apparently there are some legal issues.
