Mechwarrior was great fun, all of them were.

Another franchise that kind of ended up getting the shaft, just like C&C

Man what? 4 was the best of the series by far.

You can't take a combat system designed and balanced for a tabletop game where you roll dice to determine hits / misses and replace that with an entirely skill based system and expect it to work well.

Mechwarrior 2 had an excellent storyline but the construction / combat in 2 and 3 were pretty silly.

What you think "makes sense" has nothing to do with reality. It just has to do with your life experience. And your life experience may only be a small smidgen of reality. Possibly even a distorted account of reality at that. So what this means is that, beginning in the 20th century as our means of decoding nature became more and more powerful, we started realizing our common sense is no longer a tool to pass judgment on whether or not a scientific theory is correct. - Neil Degrasse Tyson

Maybe it's just me, but an interview doesn't seem like the appropriate venue for "feedback".

It was pretty good yeah. But the controls during combat were a bitch and a half. You can't (at least I couldn't find a way) use a joystiq. It's all keyboard. And aiming up/down is a pain.

I liked Crescent Hawks Inception (and the sequel) better.

Crescent Hawk's Inception was better. But if I remember correctly, Mechwarrior was the first game that had in cockpit piloting.

Mechwarrior 4: Mercenaries was the only one I played. That was fun.

I never made it past the mission where you had to run guard duty on a giant block of ice in space being shipped to a planet with a water shortage. The catch was that you couldn't use jump jets without hurling yourself into the great beyond, and I'd always forget after a couple of minutes because all the missions up til that one took place on terra firma so using it was almost like a reflex at that point.

After the interview and hiring period, I sent a thank you letter and a request for areas to improve on for future opportunities. No reply. But things over there are horribly understaffed, if DDI is any indication, so they may not have the time to say "work on this some and try back again next time."

As for Essentials selling, I'll take your word on it, but it's created a huge amount of dissent in the community.

No, 4 was great, as far as I'm concerned they got better each game. What I was referring to was the way the franchise was just sort of dumped. Not exactly what happened to C&C but close enough.

I never used jump jets. I understand their mobility advantage and if I was more interested in light or medium mech piloting I might use them more, but the big issue is that using them full out makes you a target without any cover moving in a predictable path. So you have to use much shorter, lower altitude hops with them.

The problem with C&C is EA took this great universe and storyline and then wrapped it up with the greatest piece of shit ever conceived. To conclude a series like C&C with the abomination that was Tiberium Twilight is a sin that can only be forgiven through blood sacrifice.

But using them to get up on a mountain ridge where you could rain rockety death on your enemies? Yes please.
