I think it looks better without the rock, the guy was "trapped" in it like Fug said.

That's looking pretty boss, Frank. Agree with Fug about moving the rock. Maybe off to the left edge to create a visual valley so we look at the guy? I dunno.

Sorry to cross-post this from my thread wherein I go batshit insane over one sketch but what the hey.

So cake is gonna force me to noodle at this until it's done. I had fun detailing the supersoldier. Now the rest.

  • It's a good start Mangos, but the lack of bend at the elbows, the semi-vague angle of the head (is he looking towards the sun, or facing up and to the right?), and the (for lack of a better description) 'robo back(?)-tits' make it a bit difficult to figure out which way the figure is facing at the moment.

Also the form is close enough in proportion that you can assume it's a human, but the neck is pretty long and the shoulders are pretty low so it's making it look kind of off base.

Otherwise yeah, as far as composition and lighting goes it's a pretty good start.

Yeah, you guys are totally right. It's one of those things where you stare at something too long and it all starts to blur. I'll fix it tomorrow.

But the rear-facing android mammaries stay.

    Haha thanks!

Thanks everyone. I've been really lax about art for the past three months and I need to get back on track. Will try and update my thread and all, I think.

Yessir. And all it took was a harder edged brush that required more pressure to mark.

I just can't get my head around sketchbook express, it feels incredibly unnatural. This is a billion times better than anything I've managed on it.

EDIT: and in hindsight about 100 times better than anything I've ever drawn.

    SBPro is pretty unnatural
    except for the pencil tool

  • tynictynic PICNIC BADASS Registered User, ClubPA regular
I love sketchbook pro, because I've set up some custom brush sets which are exactly what I need, and I do almost all my painting in there now until the end stages. You can't really change the brushes in express, and while the pencil and biro aren't bad, the default paint brush is awful. I end up using the blending tool a lot, which I don't like because it so often gives things that plastic feel ... Yeah, not optimal.

    Pro is pretty awesome though.
