Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it, follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
Hey, so I really like photography. The AC has a photo thread, but we deserve one of our own. Some people like looking at pictures other people have taken, other people like taking their own photos. Some people like both!
This is a thread for posting either photos that you think look really good from other place or just posting your own.
The Boston Big Picture is a really awesome thing with pictures. I really hope to some day be a photographer on par with some of the stuff they do.
Astronomy picture of the day is also a cool website for pictures of stars and junk.
For now I am still working on improving my own stuff. Here's a few things I did recently.
So yeah, post your own photos or photos you like. I may use this as a place to get some criticisms on my own stuff if people are down for that, as things get kind of buried/ignored in the ac thread.

Here are a couple of links that I've totally dug recently

I only have my cellphone camera, but it takes pretty decent pictures for a cellphone. I pretty much only take pictures of trees and flowers and shit so it's not that interesting. I would like a decent camera though but I don't know shit about photography and the cameras and lenses are expensive so I just make do with what I have.
Photography is fun. I don't do it as much as I'd like, but here are a few shots that came out pretty good.
I think all of these were posted in the AC thread, but oh well. As a sidenote, I think I need a better solution than Flickr, with the free account it's limiting me to 200 pictures or something. Perhaps my Dropbox would work better...
Last month I got a T2i for filming, but I use it for photos as well. I have a tumblr where I took pictures of my friends building a computer to test it out.
Only other thing I've done with it so far is take these pictures of my group making a recruitment video for our school.

Spoiler:
T2i seriously owns for video stuff. I need to do more of it for fun.
Photography is a thing I think is cool and would like to be more into, but I just have this dinky little digital camera
I've been telling myself I should carry it around more and just snap photos of everything but I haven't been hardly anywhere but home and work lately
You definitely should. Fancy cameras help but you can still do good things with a point and shoot.
I am mildly jealous of those of you with the T2i. I have the T1i, but it is still doing me well, though it got a little roughed up over my camping trip. I need to replace some things I lost from it and for some reason everything is a little bit blurry when I look through the view-finder. Pictures turn out fine though. It is either because it fell or because some moisture got all up in it. I can't really afford to get it fixed so I am going to let it slide until it fixes itself.
Also I love that Bill Murray pic staleg.
Also I am going to post more pictures. Those of you who follow my tumblr/twitter will probably have seen them.
artreus, there should be a little dial next to your view finder, look through it and turn the dial until the picture is crisp
Yeah you might have bumped the diopter. Alternatly the viewfinder or the reflex mirror might be dirty or smudged or foggy. Slide the eyepiece off and give the viewfinder a clean, then take the lens off and give the mirror a clean.

Augh I'm so dumb. I guess I messed with that without realizing it. Thanks a bunch.
Also I can find the Auto Exposure Bracketing function but I'm not sure how to.. make it do it. I guess I can manually set the exposure stuff, but there should be a way to do it without having to do it manually.

In case anyone's interested, I wrote a quick beginner's tutorial a while ago on figuring out what all the little symbols and acronyms on DSLRs mean and do.
Pfft, photography. Didn't even have to create anything, just took a picture of something already created for you. Musicians. Now those people are pretty neat.
Your fuckin' family's dug into the Southie projects like ticks. You, however, grew up on the North Shore, huh? Well, la-di-fuckin'-da. You were kind of a double kid, I bet, right? Huh? One kid with your old man, one kid with your mother. You're upper-middle class during the weeks, then you're droppin' your "R"s and you're hangin' in the big, bad Southie projects with your daddy on the weekends. I got that right?
That is useful. I've had my camera for a year or two at this point and I'm still trying to figure out how to consistently use aperture settings to get a good depth of field effect. For the most part I shoot on the shutter speed setting and work around that.
edit: Also yeah I have an artist friend who was pretty condescending about me and photography because his art is real art because he had to work so hard at it and photographers just take a bunch of pictures and a couple of them always turn out good. (I do need to work on my ratio of good pictures to bad pictures though. It is still heavily weighted to the latter)

Dear satan I wish for this or maybe some of this....oh and I'm a medium or a large.
You would think so
There's a CVS, Walgreens, Target, and 2 Wal-Marts within 10 minutes of my house that all develop film.
Where the hell do you live?

It is a bike path I take all the time, I enjoy photographing it. That one was after an ice storm
Some people seem to have found it useful.
