Which means Beck has officially become the threshold for where "too crazy" is.

As far as I know, Beck's "writing" and economic "philosophy" isn't all that highly regarded outside of the Far Right evangelical fringe.

Randroids tend to be more of the "Wall Street Republican" mode.

Ironic, considering the likely overlap between Beck's base wharblegarbling about teh censorship and the people who were quick to point out the ridiculousness of the same claim when made by the Dixie Chicks.

Hey now! Great underground vaults DO have legitimate purposes. Social experiments for one...In fact I'm getting an idea for one right now. If we can get the teapers all into one of these places it sure would be a shame if some of their vital supplies went missing in the hurry to seal the vault before Liberalism infected them and the sealing mechanism malfunctioned preventing any re-opening.

Let's start a new meme, Liberalism is a literal disease, there is no cure and only hermetically sealed, great underground vaults will protect your baby from turning into the spawn of Satan. Yes, I'm starting to like where this social experiment could be headed.

That is the main reason I stopped listening to him. Over the years, he has progressively wandered further and further over the edge. Once he started talking about his faith on the air, it ceased to even be entertaining (in that watching a retarded puppy chase a fire hydrant sort of way). I was never terribly impressed by the softheaded antics of Glenn Beck. I think more or less he was a disservice to those who actually had some kind of clear and concise motive in right-wing politics. I personally think he's a douche tool regardless of what he says. It's absurd to me that people think they have to like somebody because they are on the same "team". horseshit. It's okay to be involved in right wing politics and not like glenn beck.

Most of my friends are liberal types, and a few are more libertarian, and none of them respect Glenn Beck as a political philosopher or economic theorist or whatever else he has tried to label himself.

It's the same as Jon Stewart or other comedians that are obviously leftists. Who gives a shit? If the comedy is well-written and makes a point, it's okay to like it. I love listening to a bill hicks rant, but that doesn't mean I want the world to sell all their guns and give all the money to the poor just because he said it.

Thats not always possible, I haven't formaly studied economics for example, I won't be able to reach an opinion by myself. Now the right thing for me to do is to read on both sides of the argument and form an opinion based on what little I can understand; but you can't reasonably expect a 9 to 5 with 2 kids kind of a person to do all that and thats the problem.

My father never watches talk shows, he listen to the BBC report at 6 am, and the local report at noon. My mother on the other hand dosen't watch news but rather several talk shows that discusses them. When I talk to my father about global or local news I find that he has liberal positions on somethings and conservetive on others with a small bit of crazy conspericy theories every now and then. When I talk to my mother about social and political happenings, her position is firmly that of a conservetive.

Thing is, when ever I think about the typical Glenn fan, I think rabid tea bagger with a gun, but I doubt its that simple. I can see a lot of people watching him as a way to get a quick dose of news+opinion that airs as soon as I get home from work which also happen to be friendly with my rightness; doubt they all believe EVERYTHING he says.

Well, there is what you expect morally, like, this is the right thing to do, and there is what you expect realisticly, like, its wrong if he did that but he would probably do it anyway.

I can't realisticly expect someone with very little free time to use it to reach an "informed voter" status.

I didn't mean to ignore all sources of information and think completely independently of the objective world. I mean, reach your own conclusions about the information you're given. Question things until it makes sense to you, not because it presumably fits the criteria of a political agenda or party.

The real reality of the situation is that nobody knows the exact and specific details about everything they talk about. You may know the gist of something, or even have the ability to elaborate on some topics, but you'll never know the vast complexities of the world, especially in politics.

If you get a chance, read "I, Pencil" by Leonard E. Read. It illustrates that total knowledge about even the most simplistic things is rare if not impossible.

I only just now noticed this thread and I'm not sure if anyone said it, but I'll say it just in case:

As much as Glenn Beck wants to use his show ending as a shtick for a last routine, the reality of the situation is that his show likely wasn't making FOX any money whatsoever. The bottom line is this is show business, and when your advertisers up and walk away from your show, you're in big big trouble. It doesn't matter how many viewers you have. The only good thing viewership holds, despite lack of advertisers, is lead-in. While I don't watch FOX News, I don't think they're the kind of network that relied on lead-ins though, and I'm pretty sure what followed Beck was their "straight" news program.

Edit - Basically, capitalism killed Glenn's show.
