Yo guys. I don't usually 'art' but I'm doing a Sonic The Hedgehog cover album for the 20th Anniversary this year, and I... need an album cover. (I do have a furry artist at work on it, but I haven't heard from him for a while, and it pays to have a backup, right?)
I came up with this;

Then added this hedgehog;
Spoiler:
One of my internet associates assured me there wasn't enough blue blur stuff, so I amped it up for this:
The 1st option.. but make the edges of the blue blur stuff irregular like the second one. The blue feels to big in the second.. bout the same weight/size as the text- makes it boring.
Put a blue tint over the checker pattern?
Kill the checker pattern?
Try making the Sonic a lighter value than the subtext.
It looks like it is sufficient for what you are trying to do, but remember that filters and gradients do not make a good album cover. You could have gone way more minimal, and had a more effective design.

/end suggestions..
I agree with kenny on changing sonic's light value.
i'd also make him a bit bigger, but that's just me.
The original Sonic was full of checker patterns;
That's why I went for it. :3
If I put a filter over the pattern, won't it contrast less / blur into the foreground?
Will go have another go, change some stuff up...
