What is it?
Remember Madworld? Platinum games' black and white beat em' up for the Wii? Well its getting a spin-off in the form of Anarchy Reigns, an online multiplayer brawler coming out on the 360/PS3.

Jack is back with double the chainsaw. He looks like he plays the same as he did in Madworld, more or less. Steve Blum will be voicing him again.

Sasha


Newcomer Sasha uses ice spikes to freeze her enemies.

A fast and flashy cyborg Ninja with legendary Katanas.

Big Bull


This Madworld miniboss makes his return as a playable character. This time he appears as a big cyborg bull armed with kung-fu and a rocket-hammer jet-pack.

Blacker Baron
Although hes not the same Baron from Madworld, I'm glad to see him back

Game modes
There are several online multiplayer modes in Anarchy Reigns: 4-player deathmatch, 16-player battle royal, 2v2 Tag deathmatch, Tag battle with 4 teams of 2, 4v4 team deathmatch, 4v4 CTF, 6 player 3-team CTF, "Death ball" a 4v4 sport like Halo's griff ball, 1v1 Cage match (that can be triggered as an ATE in other match types), and 2 different co-op survival modes.

ATEs
"Action Trigger Events" are ridiculous environmental hazards that show up on the battlefield. They include a mutant uprising, carpet bombings, a tsunami, a black hole, a gigantic excavation saw running over the battle field, a giant sea monster attack, 1v1 cage matches, out of control gas tanker trucks, poison gas filling low areas, a satellite laser that forces players underground, and giant robot bosses. Some can even change the layouts of the stages. In addition to these, there are also several types of cpu enemies that roam the stage, sometimes piloting hijack-able vehicles. Check out the trailer.

A company renowned for elegant combat systems with complicated frame dependent timings working on a multiplayer combat engine.

This is going to be an interesting combat engine to take apart. I am intrigued.

I didn't notice platforms in the op. Some short digging revealed it's a ps3/x360 thing, not Wii. I wonder who is working on this.

I'm perfectly willing to trust them to do a good job. I doubt the famous names come up with all the good ideas. I know that the particulars of the combat engine is normally designed by someone else in the company with the main names giving ideas.

Although thats far from a confirmation of anything, it does mean Bayonetta and Sam Gideon have a shot at appearing. Though it could also mean those games might get sequels, which I would be completely fine with as well.

Incidentally did anyone else spot that Big Bull was doing chinese martial arts at one point.
He does a move that ends in a horse stance and has both hands out on either side of him at the end of the strike.

Sorry. I didn't see them. If they'd been embedded it'd be a lot more clear. I reckon you should embed them because images catch peoples attention.
Also I was thinking, you might want to put "Platinum Games" in the op title. The actual title of the game is fairly generic, boring and easily dismissable.
Platinum Games Anarchy Reigns will better communicate why the thread is of interest to more people. It'd be a shame for someone to not realise this is coming out because they had no idea it wasn't some generic action game.

I don't normally like the hugeass characters but Big Bull is going to be my first pick this time around. He looks ridiculously fun and stupendous.
I can't get over the awesomeness of the kungfu. All the moves he was using are based on using your weight and power to add extra force to your attack.

And then I'll be playing Nikolai because laughing at you hahahaha

Might as well make this a new post, some deathmatch gameplay from the last E3


Grabbing looks pretty ridiculous at first, but thats probably because no one knew how to counter it. Its slow, you can be hit out of it, and you can cancel it out with another grab. Theres also a "rampage" super mode you can go into by doing damage or getting kills. If you attack someone else who is also in that mode, you both go into a DBZ-ish flurry while you mash buttons and the winner gets to stay in that mode.

There are a few videos up from people who played the demo there, so look for those if you want to see more.

Also big bull because he's a living pun.
He's a big armored guy right. He does kenpo strikes, in particular kenpo strikes which rely upon weight and mass. So there's a joke there. Kenpo is all about body training to make the body rock hard and resistant to strikes and your fists the same. So he's got that covered too with the armor. He also doesn't do any of the kenpo hammer strikes, something that kenpo is known for. Instead he just pulls out his fucking hammer. And then, just to make it even more amazing, he doesn't use the hammer like a martial art but instead just hits people with it. It's also rocket powered because WHY NOT.
Then he does a kenpo stance at the end and snorts like a bull instead of going HUUUAAAHHH or whatever breathing sound they normally make.
The whole character is just this beautiful self contained self consistent pun.
