Our new Indie Games subforum is now open for business in G&T. Go and check it out, you might land a code for a free game. If you're developing an indie game and want to post about it,
follow these directions. If you don't, he'll break your legs! Hahaha! Seriously though.
Our rules have been updated and given
their own forum. Go and look at them! They are nice, and there may be new ones that you didn't know about! Hooray for rules! Hooray for The System! Hooray for Conforming!
[BATTLEFIELD 3] - Jets spotted (new trailer in the op)
Posts
Play as a soldier in the roman army or as a warrior of the barbarian hordes
I just want to axe me some legionnaires, man
...wait did crossbows exist at that time?
They've already siad that BF3 has an unlock tree like 2142.
nope
So... Mount and Blade, then?
I'm seconding/thirding/whatever the desire for a WW1 Battlefield. There was more to the war than trench battles, and even those can be done well - get some motherfucking Ace of Spades-style terrain deformation all up in here (maybe just near each side's part of the map in defined areas for the overland, then when tunneling it uses a cube-based grid since the terrain doesn't need to be all fancy underneath).
Just fucking something other than modern warfare. The only real reason I'm excited for BF3 is the building destructibility and the return to the traditional 64-player conquest mode. Lord knows running through bloom n' HDR Middleeastistan (or maybe, for something different, bloom n' HDR Russia) with weapons I've memorised the names for for no other reason than using them in almost every multiplayer FPS released in the last few years (and certainly not because they feel substantially different from one another), gunning down Russians, terrorists, and Russian terrorists whereever they may hide gets rather tiring.
And people wonder why indie games are getting so much traction.
Old PA forum lookalike style for the new forums.
With destructible planes of reality.
use a rift grenades to travel between the mechwarrior universe and a minecraft server
We have to go deeper.
Too bad Pandemic closed up shop and LucasArts seems intent on churning out shit-in-a-box.
I'm still kind of happily surprised whenever I think about the Battlefronts games existing, and they are still as awesome as they were when they first came out.
Battlefield : Magicka
Ride them Dragons and cast those spells.
Here is the same trailer but with commentary from one of the devs
I imagine this is a futile question because who uses the ea store? :S

How are people not more excited for this game. It looks so gooooood
I've used EADM, don't know how many changes they may have made, but no, you couldn't gift games on it. That would be awesome if you could, because the Thai EA store has really low prices
Yeah, this isn't the kind of game you make love to.
You don't take this game home to Mom.
You pick this game up at midnight after a few drinks with friends and you take it back to your place. And it's so good.
and I really, really hope they release a demo for this one like they did for BF2 and 1942. Those demos got so many people hooked and gave you a great idea how much money you were going to have to spend to bring your system up to par. I upgraded for BF:1942, I upgraded for BF2 and by god I'll upgrade again for this amazing looking installment.
Or hopefully just pre-ordering gives me one!
Got a good 15-20 hours MP out of it too and only paid 30 bucks!
You'll probably let this game fuck you.
Seriously though, have they mentioned supported player count yet? PC/console?
32v32 PC and 16v16 on consoles, IIRC.
Console: 24
from a talk some DICE guys did yesterday
[€dit] beaten<3
They mostly break down the videos shown and go into some details into classes and whatnot

I find it weird they went 24 players on console, what with their shiny new engine. Specially since MAG can do 256 players.
I don't know if you ever played BF2, but the map would increase and decrease in size depending on how many players were in the server. It was a wonderful system and im sure it will be coming back for BF3.
Edit: Let me clarify: I didnt actively increase and decrease in size... each map had 3 versions: 16, 32, 64 players
16 was of course the smallest, then 32 and you got the full map at 64.
Fortunately I will be playing on PC sooo yay me
The multiplayer videos were pretty bad too, they found enigmas to play the game. The medic who can't heal or aim, the engineer who can't aim or enjoy playing any of the vehicles. What the fuck.
I need real videos of people who are real fans of the series, not some creepy role playing dude.
At the cost of cutting a lot of corners in its graphics.
I can't imagine playing BF3 on anything but the PC. it sounds like the console version is severely gimped.
