on the subject of poor fans, I think Philly probably gets the nod for individual excellence in douchbaggery, but it's always hard to beat Boston for unified effort. A douchebag chain is only as strong as its weakest link as they say.
Boston fans have become pretty smug, but come on. It doesn't matter what sport you're talking about, the answer for worst fans is ALWAYS Philly.
Fuck all Philly fans except me. Haha.
I love that the rule book is being rewritten. Hip checking = penalty. Too Many Men = no penalty. Diving = Olympic Event.
While I only watched bits and pieces of the game up to this point, the crowd and game seemed pretty dead for the most part. I guess everyone used up all their energy in game 7. Seems to be picking up now though.
And yeah, that was a pretty sweet hip check. Don't know how they called that a penalty.
Edit: And as far as Philly fans go, they just have the most PR. They probably aren't that much worse than most other fans.
Absolutely loved the Canucks' effort. They were skating hard all night, and simply out-worked Nashville all night. To their credit, Nashville did a good job keeping the Canucks to the outside, and so though they got a lot of shots, there weren't a hell of a lot of quality chances. Rinne had a huge hand to play in that too. I don't think I saw any bad rebounds allowed by him at all.
I'm just not afraid of the Preds offense, like, at all. It's definitely going to be tough to score on them, but it sure won't take all that many to beat them...
I don't think he's cocky - he's all business. In the past playoffs, he and his team have been un-done by them getting frustrated. He mentioned how they don't want to unravel and start cheating (their system) - he's talking about the 09 playoffs.

I agree with the notion that the Preds play like NJ: pretty heavy on the turtle. Good aggression by the Canucks, hopefully they can keep it up.
Despite a score of 1-0, tonight’s game was hella fun. Atmosphere was great in my opinion. Everyone in the media says that compared to Game 7 tonight was nothing. My first playoff game, so I have nothing to compare to, but honestly it sounded like a really exciting regular season game. I'm sure the Chicago series was louder.
More importantly, the Canucks dominated for the entire 60 minutes. I have never seen such a toothless offense from a playoff team. Nashville was sluggish, slow, and the few plays they did make successfully were quickly neutralized by the Canucks’ D.
Now, I’m not counting Nashville out yet. That would be idiocy of the highest order. But there’s a reason that the LOSING goaltender was awarded the 1st star tonight while the WINNING goaltender was awarded the 3rd.
The whole game was just so damn exciting. All sorts of creative plays from the Canucks and if it wasn’t for Rinne, the score could have easily been 3-0 or 4-0. The rest of the Preds definitely let him down.
Other thoughts:
- Clipping...Really? Really!?!
- Game could have easily changed with that shorthanded breakaway in the third. That was close.
- Best moment of the night: double takedown of Hornqvist. Hilarious.
Oh, and I sat beside a group of three people (husband, wife, father in law) who were vacationing from L.A., the husband being a Ducks fan and who wanted to see Vancouver sock it to Nashville. They were hilarious. I loved them. Yay California.
They left with six minutes remaining though, so I stole their seats
I missed the last two periods as I had to go out, but glad to see the Canucks won. I was a bit worried that the Canucks would have a let down after the emotional high of beating the Hawks, I expect they will be better on Saturday.

But I'm probably going to eat my words.
Also that was a nice breakaway save/goalie dive by Luongo there.
A little bit, yeah.

I like them better than the pom poms

It was a lot of fun having the Wings win in four, and just sitting back and watching everyone else pulling their hair out.
Something like that :P

I really should have built a fort though

Do they not make golf jokes about people who lose in the playoffs in Canada?
When I saw the picture on that website, I assumed it was a Nashville golf corse, trying to make fun of the Canucks

Well, if the Canucks win, it'd be appropriate to change the name back, right?
That's interesting, McLellan hinted at breaking up Thornton and Marleau tonight
